One more day and it's over for 6 months.  I'm talking about the NFL season.  We have two likeable teams playing tomorrow... should be fun.  I have the hot tip for food during the game, Paraquat's Super Bowl Chili... for 3-4 servings:

  1. 1 lb ground Turkey (brown with 1 chopped onion, 2 chopped celery stalks
  2. Add 1 can tomato sauce
  3. 2 cans vegetarian chili beans
  4. 1 can mexicorn
  5. 1 can kidney beans
  6. sprinkle in cyan pepper to spice hot, medium, etc. to taste
  7. Put on low cook slow *we cook for 4-5 hours) and stir often

A nice salad and corn bread and you're done.

Sunny and not to warm today... maybe 76 downtown.  We'll take it.

Saturday that means www.themlsweekendopenhouseguide.com  Search the local housing market from your desktop and call us when you're ready to strike.

 Tom LaBonge's weekend newsletter:

This week marked the successful culmination of two ongoing issues in Council District 4.  On Tuesday, the City Council voted unanimously to declare that Griffith Park is Historic Cultural Monument #942 of the City of Los Angeles.  On Wednesday, it voted 11-4 to approve construction of the final phase of the Pachyderm Forest Exhibit at the Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens.  For more information on these stories and other issues in the Council District, please visit:  www.tomlabonge.com

 - Councilmember LaBonge spoke in support of the Historic Cultural Monument status for Griffith Park and thanked Van Griffith, great grandson of park contributor Col. Griffith J. Griffith, for initiating the preservation process.  The Councilmember has been leading monthly clean-ups and tree-plantings in Griffith Park since the devastating fire of May, 2007.  To see a map of the burn area and information about restoration efforts, see the newsletter attached below.  The City of Los Angeles Office of Historic Resources offers detailed information on exactly what the historic monument status for Griffith Park means:  http://preservation.lacity.org/node/436

 - For renderings and details regarding the Pachyderm Forest exhibit, please visit the zoo's website:  http://www.lazoo.org/elephants/index.html  . The project is scheduled for completion in September, 2010.

 - Councilmembers LaBonge and Weiss called for stiffer penalties for building owners who have been cited by the fire department for hanging illegal supergraphic signs on their building facades.  Supergraphics were draped down the facades of many buildings throughout the city in violation of a moratorium on new billboards and signage, which was adopted by the City Council in December.

 - Join Tom today for the 110th Annual Golden Dragon Parade celebrating the Chinese New Year.  The parade is held on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 2-4 p.m. on Broadway in Chinatown.

Enjoy your Superbowl Weekend and continue to enjoy and love Los Angeles!

Have a great day... It'll be a great day to have.
