CReATE allows differently abled in Utah to go where they wish My favorite piece of Assistive Technology Equipment is my power chair.
It is a "product" of CReATE, an initiative of Utah State University. You see, CReATE  built my chair from fully serviced donated parts, fitted new batteries and was able to pass it on to me at a great price.  It has served my demanding needs for two years, being comfortable to boot.
I am only too happy to promote the ideals and services of CReATE in Utah.

I support CReATE I am a happy client of CReATE (Citizens REutilizing Assistive Technology Equipment).
You might say I am rather hard on mobile chairs. Being a "Realtor on the Move" in Sandy UT, I have been utilizing my chair for up to 18 hours a day ~ my van, my chair and my traveling office (bag at the front) allow me to go, go, GO.

I am not one for naming gadgets and appliances (a business partner in Australia had his computers named "Curley, Moe and Larry" and by inference I was blamed for computer Larry's shortcomings). However … (6 comments)

create: An education in assistive technology - 06/30/11 03:51 AM

An education in assistive technology The need for 24 volts and 3-5 amps does not appear to be a big ask. But require it, day in day out, for continuous mobility then it can be an important issue.
The charger for my chair ceased to function. Given that it has had a hard, demanding life, and has been self repaired at least a dozen times, I was not really perturbed when it went "on the blink" ~ even after the routine shaking and thumping. I had, at best, a partial charge before it was back to my manual wheel chair.
