Yesterday morning, I had the pleasure of attending the Tree City USA Presentation in Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina. Not only was it a special moment for the town, it was an absolutely gorgeous day! Brian Swanson of the Forestry Division, presented the Town with the Tree City USA Award. When Comparing closed listings from February 2011 (3 units) vs. February 2012 (2 units), number of sales are down. The number of Pending Sales has increased 200%, year over year comparison. There are still a great number of listings currently available to choose from, but that number has dropped 12.5% over the previous year... leaving Pine Knoll Shores with 119 properties currently available on the market. Number of sales are up year to date, inventory is down and prices seem to be stabilizing.

If you live in the Pine Knoll Shores, NC area, you need to know that the Mimosa Bridge Replacement Project is now underway! Signs are now posted for a detour of vehicular traffic, effective today 3/12/2012, from the intersection of Mimosa Boulevard and NC Highway 58 for the replacement of Mimosa Bridge. Access to Mimosa Bridge from Highway 58 will be closed. If you are a boater in the area, you will also need to learn different routes to navigate the canals. Fortunately, there are more ways than one to get to Bogue Sound!

New Visitor's Center at Fort Macon State Park
Well, actually, the Visitor's Center at Fort Macon State Park has been around for about a year now, but if you haven't seen it, you'll want to plan a trip real soon. It is awesome!
My family and I visit Fort Macon in Atlantic Beach, several times a year. It is one of our favorite places in Carteret County and carries so much wonderful history, there is something to be learned by everyone. When Comparing closed listings from May 2010 vs. May 2011, number of sales have increased 266.7%. The number of Pending Sales has increased 180%, year over year comparison. While there are still a great number of listings currently available, that number has dropped 16.2% year to date.
