Wordless Wednesdays: Life of Holly in a pet friendly home... As a pet friendly Realtor in Los Angeles, I not only talk a good game, but I practice what I preach.
Now with that said how many homes can show pictures of their dog being sandwiched by two cats one on each side. Now in all fairness she does not seem that thrilled but clearly does not mind.

On a side note, they all end up in bed with us and I am glad we have a King Sized bed.

Night before New Year's Eve: what did you cook for dinner? I wanted to make something easy. So, with that said we had Farro, Yellow Beets and Barramundi. Diane insisted on having a crabcake too:)
Hence, we had that added to the menu. Easy cleanup and a light dinner.
Now my next question is what will you have for dinner tomorrow?

Here we are it is the Friday night before Christmas... I wanted to surprise Diane with a special dinner.
So, with that said I reach out to my newest cookbook "From the Oven to the Table" those who read my post know this was my latest acquisition to my cookbooks. There were a couple recipes that I had my eye on. p.s.: as my regular readers know, once I make a dish the cookbook is paid for:).

It's that time of year again: remember to set you clocks this weekend. As most of you know I complain about this ritual twice a year. It always feels like to me that, we just set the clocks forward and now we are setting it back.
What I do not understand is why are we still doing this? There was an election last year the majority of Californians voted to eliminate this ritual... anyway politicians do whatever they want that is my take.

How is your Halloween Decoration coming along? This was the question one of our neighbors asked me three blocks away as I was walking Holly. Keep in mind the top photo and this one were taken at their home.
I had to admit shamefully that we are still at ground zero. Needless to say he offered his wife to help me and she in turn clarified that it was their four-year-old daughter who handled the decorations, she was just following orders.

Speechless Sunday Post: Jill insisted on watching the Super Bowl... in all fairness Diane wanted to watch the halftime show and Jill was all for watching the game.
As you can see, she was into the game and requested a couple of snacks, so the home chef had to throw something together quickly to appease the natives.

The good news was luckily for me I always have something I can throw together on short notice.

I was reminded today by our friend Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint-Idaho as he sent me a great email with some wonderful photos. Needless to say, they were some Blizzard Photos and he laughed that I was complaining about putting on a sweater and a jacket when the temperatures dropped to the mid-fifties and low sixties as I walked Holly our dog.
Indeed, we have no right to complain about our weather. As I looked out in our backyard and took these photos of our tangerine tree.

We were at Vroman’s Book Store in Pasadena, and yes I was browsing at the cookbook section and found this great book: Love & Lemons EVERY DAY. Yes, the Title caught my attention. I have always been of the belief that there are certain items that should always be done with permits. More importantly with licensed contractors that know what they are doing. Next door to us I wrote about a "Flipper" buying and taking every short cut in the world to freshen up a tired house. Amazingly enough magically they did everything in what I consider "record time" I said to Diane and our neighbors that we speak with or should I say that speak with us, that there is no way that roof was done with permits. I have always loved "bird of paradise" the plant. It is such an exotic flower that I had a love affair with it. Mostly grows in warmer climates and that probably caused the attraction. So when we came to California I was a bit surprised that often you could see them growing as almost like a weed along the highways and roads.
