Being the biggest & the smartest makes you a Target

Being the king…doesn’t guarantee you’ll rule the jungle.

The Lion went up to the rhinoceros and asked “Who is the king of the jungle?” – “you are O lion” came the answer.
The lion went up to the hippopotamus and asked “Who is the king of the jungle?” –The hippo said “You are O lion.”

steve loynd nh realtor: Loon mt 12/14/11 Ski report - Lincoln NH - 12/14/11 05:47 AM

Loon ski report…my first one of the 2011-2012 season.
December 14th 2011 – sadly was my first day on the snow this year. With the lack of the natural stuff…I wasn’t in a rush to get on the slopes. But I was pleasantly surprised today. Sure there wasn’t much open, but what was wasn’t bad…top to bottom runs, the Gondola and two other chairs were running and the trails were groomed quite nicely.

I began to question if today was the day to strap on the boards, as the misty fog in the parking lot at my arrival wasn’t a cheery … (10 comments)

steve loynd nh realtor: Short days of December...Sun -up and Sun -down are too close together - 12/09/11 08:06 AM
If it weren't for the Holiday lights every where, I could see why many people get depressed in December. I took a shot out my window this morning just before 8 am...The sun was coming up and the first rays were on the eastern side of the mountain summits.

The White Mountain of New Hampshire were treated to a fresh blanket of snow...but the wind blew it off all the trees. Just the summits about 4,000 feet (Lafayette and Liberty Mt's) showed the snow. 7:45 am today.
Fast forward 8 hours....4pm today - the sun was all done shining … (5 comments)

steve loynd nh realtor: White Mountain Sunset - Loon Mt Lincoln NH. - 11/25/11 12:14 PM
I witnessed a wonderful late November Sunset this evening 4:45 pink and red sky's over the White Mountains

Western White mountain range...from my office window.

Main Street Lincoln New Hampshire...the hustle and bustle of Black Friday...slows down to witness the sunset.

There are two stationary Trains parked behind my office - they made for a nice sunset shot.

The very last rays of the day 5pm Eastern standard time...White Mountains of New Hampshire.

steve loynd nh realtor: Getting excited for the upcoming ski season - 11/20/11 12:26 AM
Yes it's time to start thinking about the upcoming ski season. Killington Vermont has already opened, Bretton woods Resort in Twin Mountain New Hampshire opens the day before Thanksgiving, Loon Mountain ( on turkey day) and Cannon Mountain in Franconia New Hampshire the day after Thanksgiving.
I took these shots eight months ago at Loon mt....time to wax the skis and get ready for the season.

.....From the top of Boom Run, where two new expert slopes were added for the 2011-2012 ski season.

....Also Boom Run - top of Rip Saw a double black diamond run...and just above … (11 comments)

What do you do the first Monday after rolling your clock back an hour? I decided to run up to the Franconia Notch State park and watch the sun climb the mountains. The Moon was still out when I jumped out of bed...and the day is off and running.

Just the top of Mount Lafayette shone the sun as I entered the Notch park way in Lincoln New Hampshire.

The Beavers have been very busy at Profile lake...but I didn't see any creatures at this hour on the morning.

steve loynd nh realtor: Season change. But the White mountains of New Hampshire stays the same - 11/06/11 03:40 AM
Over the years I find myself going to the familiar spots and look out points...especially when there is a blue sky day and the photo op is just right. The funny thing about that is, in time I have ended up with similar shots from the same spot in many different seasons.
..
The fall foliage gives the heart shaped tree a vibrant color, the deep Green of summer is lush, late fall proves to be the undoing for the leaves of this beautiful tree. But I'll be back to shot you when the snow covers you too.

steve loynd nh realtor: October - Snow day 10 -30-11 - 10/30/11 01:36 AM

I have seen snow totals over two feet in places around New Hampshire - we didn't get that much in Woodstock, but a nice dusting for this early.

More pictures to come later...silent Sunday - time to shovel.

We just can't decide if it's still Fall foliage or Winter is here to stay?

The Prediction are for Temps in the mid - 50's later in the week...so a return to fall is likely before the true winter weather sets in for the ski season.

But try telling that to this poor bushel of Mums...the yellow … (14 comments)

After the fall. Comes our next favorite Season...Winter, better known as ski season in the White mountains of New Hampshire. I only have a handful of 6 month ski season rentals remaining...most have been booked for the season by families securing their winter accommodations.

What a great combination of Color and just a touch of snow - to let us know this too shall pass.

It is very hard to see - but the peak of Mount Moosilauke is wearing a snow cap. Just a hint of things to come.

steve loynd nh realtor: White Mountain NH golf side condo - incredible remodel $219,900 - 10/17/11 09:52 AM
The Jack O'Lantern golf Course  easy access to I93,  just 6 miles from the Loon mountain Ski Resort exit.

Like many Condominium projects they all look the same on the outside...but this new listing looks nothing like the other units here on the inside. Not even the same floor plan  any-more, extensive renovations have made this new listing a true gem of a place. New Cherry Cabinets, Granite counter tops, vanities, stainless steel appliances, stone fireplace, cherry floors, new recessed lighting...well pretty much it's all been made new.

steve loynd nh realtor: What a difference a week makes with foliage in the White mountains of NH. - 10/16/11 06:36 AM
Much of the east coast has seen torrential rains - accompanied by winds and cold nights. This is a foliage killer, it will all be on the ground in no time. The higher mountain peaks even had a bit of snow on them this morning when I woke up. Today's view from my living room window - much of the trees have gone bare since last week.
October 16th - still some color but much of the branches were blown bare over the last few days -Last week.

October 9th one week prior the leaves and their color were … (27 comments)

steve loynd nh realtor: Owls Nest - Great Golf - Fabulous Foliage- Campton NH properties. - 10/12/11 10:16 AM
I plan my weekly recreation for Wednesdays - Weekends are so crazy in the resort business, but even on a day off I like to check out the local real estate offerings. Today: Golf at the Owls Nest course. It turned out to be a great Foliage day for pictures and I had one of my best rounds of the year. Isn't that always the way...once you groove your swing the season is coming to an end. We'll be skiing in a little over a month - I'll play golf until ski season.

It was worth getting out today the … (13 comments)

While I put away lawn furniture and took down hammocks I snapped a few shots of a dry seasonal creek bed.

Saturday  1 O'clock.

Twenty four hours later the dry creek is filling the pond up rapidly.

over looking my small pond Saturday. About 12 feet deep in the middle.

We are about to over-flow the banks of the pond...over 20 feet deep right now and more rain on it's way.

This is the site where I took down my Hammock pre-storm...Relatively dry for August, more of a trickle.
