adapting and adjusting: A Ship Captain's Motto: Always Be Prepared! - 03/16/23 08:27 AM
A Ship Captain's Motto: Always Be Prepared!

A Navy captain is alerted by his First Mate that there is a pirate ship coming towards his position. He asks a sailor to get him his red shirt.
He asked the captain, “Why do you need a red shirt?”
The Captain replies, “So that when I bleed, you sailor's won’t notice and aren’t discouraged.” They fight off the pirates eventually.
The very next day, the Captain is alerted that 50 pirate ships are coming towards them quickly. He yells, “Get me my brown pants!

adapting and adjusting: Adjust your sails! - 11/19/22 10:25 AM
Adjust your sails!

Successful agents own the ability to adjust and adapt in the real estate arena, while moving their businesses forward. When adverse situations present, they find solutions that best benefit the client's goals.

Methods that work require tenacity, resiliency and follow through. Juggling timelines, schedules, cancellations, withdrawals, meeting critical deadlines are all part of the process. No time for speculation.

Getting back to the basics can create the best outcome, every time. You and I can determine our standard of business and must leave the rest where it belongs. We can't control the wind but can adjust the sails.

Happy sales all!

adapting and adjusting: Oh my gauche! - 02/01/22 07:49 AM
Oh my gauche!

Please excuse my lack of social graces when it comes to left-handedness.  I was born into a right-handed world where everyone expected me to adjust, rather than letting up on a stringent set of silly rules.

Left-handed people were considered lacking of class, dumb and skill less. Thanks to an elementary teacher, I became ambidextrous, writing fluently with both hands, encouraging the win of many art contests.

Back then...
A pop on the left hand by teacher when using it (ouch!) was a stern reminder to exchange the left reflex for the preferred method.
Desks in the school I attended were designed for … (32 comments)

adapting and adjusting: For a brighter future, remember to turn on the light! - 07/28/21 07:02 AM
For a brighter future, remember to turn on the light!

From the start of a real estate career, I was very lucky to align with a national relo-company. Eventually, they sent all buyers and sellers to me because of a high closing rate.

Many agents will pass up the opportunity to do business with them because of their fees but my thoughts went to 'after the sale'. The relationship then becomes established and any transactions after recording were 100% mine.

Several years later, they changed their business model and I became on the outskirts. At that time, I was very lax on reaching out … (36 comments)

A Jingled Jangled Dangled Christmas!

While sheltering in place at the North Pole, Santa's reindeer became extremely restless. Suddenly, their life desires went beyond just playing reindeer games or guiding the sleigh on Christmas Eve.

Each reindeer left, forging a different path:
Dasher - was hired on as a Shopping Cart Wrangler at the mall because he was ultra-light on his hooves.
Dancer - took a job at the local Gentledeer's Club, specializing in pole dancing, twirling and swirling, with bells on.
Prancer - dreamed of being a Barista at Starbuck's. He sure liked his skinny, frothy, vanilla, caramel, frappe latte's!
Vixen - became an Administrator … (78 comments)

Will closing the eyes limit hindsight?

Real estate sales in 2019 were steady. Business for me in 2020 also started out extremely strong with 6 ready, willing and able buyers, who were excited to make the southern Utah area their final destination.

When the national shutdown was announced, it felt like being punished for someone else's transgressions. Most of my clients are from out-of-area and one by one they all canceled their appointments.

Instead of becoming paralyzed or denying reality, which benefits no one in business or personal circles, I settled in for several months, forgoing the norm to figure out a more productive way to fill time.

New routines meant:

Nerdin Gardens: Fill fulling the goals set forth.

Nature instinctively moves forward, whether a beautiful Monarch Butterfly collecting pollen, satisfying its hunger before moving on to a final destination or a Pumpkin vine, sprawling out about the ground, ensuring fruition.

Though impediments present that hinder progress, adapting and adjusting is necessary to fulfill the set goals. No excuses, just the need to succeed. What would the industry be, if all professionals had such a focused mindset?

adapting and adjusting: Frida, The Weeping Rose - 04/22/20 01:11 PM
Frida, The Weeping Rose

Coming from a long line of gatherers, the Floribunda clan was widely applauded for their colorful displays, happily brightening the days of all in the land. Suddenly, Frida realized that her family members had departed, leaving her alone in the world.
She began to weep, while simultaneously a spring shower lightly fell upon her soul, masking the sadness she felt inside but also refreshing the inner resolve. Rather than accept an isolated fate, she gently unfurled her fragrantly striped petals, inviting all to visit!
Soon, everyone near and far had surrounded her in unified support and ardent admiration. She contentedly … (6 comments)

Catch you on the flip side!

That snappy phrase takes on a totally different meaning with nature. Rather than hiding in plain sight on the flower's face, the Praying Mantis implements an advantageous back door approach, taking advantage of unsuspecting fly-byers.

These marvelous creatures gain optimum results, thriving and surviving in a successful environment. They are most beneficial to Nerdin Gardens as well. The more they achieve, the less we worry about pests.

Some characteristics of the Praying Mantis:
possess a 180 degree head rotation can snatch food right out of mid air ability to remain motionless for extended periods
By instinct, they are stealth masters, adapting to surroundings, often camouflaging themselves among the flowers and greenery. These welcome … (16 comments)

Come what may this way come.

Born the third daughter to a wealthy family, Della knew she lacked her two sisters physical beauty. Her nose was wide and her mouth large but she possessed twice as much strength as most girls her age.

She learned to be useful and fill a need when she saw fit. While her sisters were sedentary and dressed in the prettiest of gowns daily, she learned self-defense, to hunt, cook, bake, sew, paint and garden.

The sisters, instead, had house maids ready and available to attend every whim. They soon were married off Princes in neighboring villages with servants who unfailingly waited on them … (10 comments)

Happy Labor Day ahhhhhhhll!

After working most of the weekend, my husband and I quickly planned a day trip to Panguitch Lake. As we threw in the anchors at 7:10am this morning, we settled down for a day of cast, bait, catch, rinse and repeat.

Because the lake was turning, a slight change in pole configuration was necessary. Instead of filling the bobber with water and allowing it to sink to the bottom, we now floated it off the top with night crawlers.

As soon as we did that, BAM! we caught three nice size Rainbow Trout. It is amazing what can be accomplished when you are … (19 comments)

adapting and adjusting: Tenacity and adapting can get you through it! - 05/26/17 06:54 PM
Tenacity and adapting can get you through it!

Growing up poor wasn't a choice, it was simply circumstances and environment. As a child, I endured bullying by other kids due to being different than them and yearned for the normalcy that other kids experienced.

While physically small, I more than make up for that in tenacity. From a young age, I learned about how important a determined work ethic played in earning a good living.

As a teen, I continuously fought off old, familiar feelings of shame, low self-esteem knowing I wanted a better life. When taking a job, I gave it everything and more. If I delivered auto parts, I was the VERY BEST at that job! When … (24 comments)

Adapt and adjust, that's what we do!

After seeing a question posted on another social media site discussing whether REO's are prevalent or a thing of the past, it got me to thinking. While very few foreclosed homes have hit the real estate market in the last couple of years, there is indeed a cyclical nature to the business.

Mention of a coming market adjustment gets one to re-thinking current business methods and how to prepare for such an event. Every presidential election year brings hope for a better future but it also creates a lot of doubt among the American people on decisions made that can adversely affect our way … (9 comments)

Who moved my chee…geez Louise!

This week has been a test of any good nerves I may have left. I rolled my ankle (ouch!) and every single appointment set for this week was delayed, requested for an earlier or at a later time.

Moved up. ^^^

Moved back!

Forward again. >>>

Or cancelled! Right now, after running (ouch) from one appointment to the next, I need to refer back to the book Who Moved My Cheese to get some semblance of balance again.

Whew! Glad to see the end of this week nearing its course. NEXT!

What a glorious time to bee buzzzy!

As summer gives way to fall, foraging becomes more difficult for honey bees. Thankfully, there are late bloomers that allow them to accomplish daily goals while adapting and adjusting to the changing seasons.

Are you moving ahead and meeting the goals set forth? If not, be like a bee and get buzzzzy!

Naturally curly!

This skinless, burp-less cucumber twisted itself around the stalk of a sunflower in the garden. Unknown to us, until we started clearing away some dead plant material. We think the wind caused it to turn bit by bit until it created this outcome.

It almost looks like it was hanging on for dear life as it was clearly off the ground by more than a foot. Who knows? Maybe it adapted and adjusted in order to continue thriving. Nature constantly amazes me with her sense of humor and survival skills!

We can definitely take notes from this example to enhance our own business models. Happy Saturday all!

adapting and adjusting: Family matters during the Holidays! - 11/27/13 02:36 AM
Family matters during the Holidays!

The holidays have always been spent together. As a family. Always. My husband and I are very traditional in our ways and hope that our children will recognize the importance of sharing special times together as they mature.
This is the first year we will spend Thanksgiving with just the two of us. The Empty-Nester syndrome is finally here upon us. And how! Up to now, our lives have revolved around our children, all decisions made with them in mind, schedules adjusted to accommodate theirs.
Our oldest son joined the Navy just over a year … (15 comments)
