A few thoughts on getting older.
I have a few thoughts on getting older. The obvious one, of course, is that it's better than the alternative.
To keep this on a positive note, here are my top 10 hints for navigating through getting older:
1. I’m no physics major, but I think Einstein’s Theory of Time and Space may back my theory that as you get older, time moves faster.
Therefore, you have to run faster than you did when you were younger or you’ll never get where you want to go.
2. Forget about those old sayings like “a stitch in time saves nine.” No one sews anymore!
3. Gravity will help to keep you grounded, but it will also ground other parts of your body.
4. Make sure you have children in your life.
They will help to keep you young, and you’re going to need them to help you navigate any new tech gadgets that come out.
5. Find a mate or significant other that you really like as a friend, because trust me, after 40 years this is what will keep your feet warm at night.
6. Your life is an accumulation of the choices and decisions you make. This is not the time to play eeny meeny miny moe.
7. Everyday bend over and say good bye to negative thoughts, then stand up and arms stretched to the sky say 1 positive thing that happened to you that day.
Now, give me 3 sets of 12 reps.
8. Be nice to everyone you meet. Smile when you see them and say “hello.” As you get older, you won’t remember who you do and don’t know so this will ensure you don’t leave anyone out.
9. Don’t be afraid to say your age when asked. However, never, ever act your age…. go younger!
10. If you can, avoid anyone who does not enjoy or “get” Disney World. At the very least, minimize the time you have to spend around them.
I’ll leave you with one of my favorite lines from “An Affair to Remember”
“If I’d known I was going to live to 86, I wouldn’t have let the maid go.”
How about you? Do you have any tips to for navigating getting older?
