...More Babies!

Returning to Houston meant leaving our peacocks back in Florida. Since that time, Larry and I have enjoyed adding feeders, etc to our back yard for the birds and squirrels.

Well, almost a year to the day I’m writing again about more babies!!!!

Larry researched and found a box he thought the bluebirds would like. We have mealworms...although I drew the line at live mealworms that we would have to keep in our fridge.

I’m not sure of the status but we are tickled pink or blue that they chose our yard for their nursery!

How wonderful, Kathy. I love your nature neighbors - how fun to have babies to watch develop and grow. You've done a great job creating a welcoming environment.

I am so happy to hear that you have bluebird and babies. They are one of my fav. birds. They love dried mealworms. I never had live ones either. They also like suet.

Kathy,

How lovely to have this happen in your backyard.  Their song is much more harmonious than a peacock's.  A

Very fun Kathy! It's so fun to see all the baby birds growing up and leaving the nest. Birds are such good parents and teachers!

William Feela we love being able to view nature!

Donald Urschalitz I love the sandhill crane!!! Just seeing them walk is interesting.

Sally K. & David L. Hanson tell Dini that there is a large fat cat a few doors down that we see outside on occasion. We're hoping that they stay away from our yard.

Roy Kelley I have two words for you...Happy Anniversary!!!

Michael Jacobs they may be gluten free, but I told Larry that he is welcome to buy a small fridge to be kept in the garage for the live mealworms, just as we did with our fishing bait in Florida.

Nina Hollander so far the biggest threat we see for our little birds are the hawks that hang out.

Hannah Williams we just put the house up a few weeks ago, if that, and were afraid we were too late for the nesting season.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD thank you, and we are trying. Larry does the research by reading books and online to find out what to feed them. He's already modified another birdhouse that should be better suited for birds. (once a homebuilder, always a homebuilder. )

Sharon Lee thank you for that information. I just passed it along to Larry because he wasn't sure if they'd eat the dried mealworms. We've also taken our old egg shells and dried them in the oven for the mama bluebird.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® Thanks, Sheri. I suggested to Larry that we need a longer lens but I don't want to mess with it.

Fingers crossed Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 We saw 3 hawks (at one time, which is unusual) flying around Saturday.

Congratulations!

Love the photos.

We recently had some babies too. A little Swallow nest on the shrub next to our front porch. Mama had three babies. They grew up and flew away really fast. We are hoping for more babies, but we came home from a trip yesterday and the nest is gone. No idea what happened to it. At least the babies were no longer in it.
