Wordless Wednesday…House Sitters

 

There are some house sitters at Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve and they are making their presence known. 

 

 

These Egyptian Geese are doing what many other birds and animals do in the Spring…at least that’s why I think they’re here. 

These like hanging out on top of the public restroom, the signs, rooftops, or on the docks.

 

 

They do make their presence known with loud honks and noises that I’m sure Donald Duck never made. 

 

In fact, they’re so loud, I haven’t heard our Black Bellied Whistling Ducks or the lone goose we have in weeks. However, they don't seem to be as messy (if you know what I mean) as other geese we've had around.

 

 

The weather’s getting better so get out and enjoy what mother nature has to offer.

Nina Hollander, Broker I'd never heard of them until I met Larry. We had a lone goose at the Preserve but I haven't seen her/him in a week. These geese don't appear to be as messy as regular geese.

We have Canadian geese all around town Kathy, but not sure the difference between them Egyptian geese. Have to look it up.

your blog brought back a memory to me. Back in the early eighties, we started raising Moskovie ducks. Looked out one morning as they got bigger.  Two flew up and sat on my neighbor's roof ridge.  That weekend my BIL and I clipped all their wings.  #memories

Bill Salvatore - East Valley we had them around the pond at one of our neighborhoods. I never saw them on the roofs so maybe their wings had been clipped.

I know what you mean about messy birds.  We have pigeons everywhere around our house and they were making themselves at home on our roof.  We had to hire a guy to put netting up over every nook and cranny.  They still love to visit.  I will trade you a few of our pigeons for some of your geese! 😂

We get them on docks a lot.  Had one nest in a flower box and she wouldn't let people on the dock for about a month.
