In this month's contest
What changes did you make last year or the year before that worked...is a contest hosted by Endre Barath, Jr. and will encourage us all to look at what was successful in the past two years. He is not asking for what we plan to do or to make New Year's resolutions.
Most of those are already broken by the first couple of days in the new year.
That old saying "if it's not broke, don't fix it" means continuing the tried and true.
If it works, do more of it!
The things that have worked for me remain the same, and they are my consistency with advertising, my blogging, my weekly radio show, and tying them all together. Using blogging as topics on the show, and using my material from the show in my blogging, is efficient. Each week I have a talking list for the show because there are weeks that no one calls in, and I need material to talk for the hour. There are other weeks that we have three or four callers, and each caller has the possibility of changing the topic of the show.
One of the things I will continue to do is reach out and call my former clients to reminisce about their transactions. These are people that have bought and sold with me and have made my life better. Letting them know how much I appreciated working with them is good for us both. I am not asking for referrals; I am just staying in touch.
When I have a professional agent that I admire, who does the right thing, looks out for their client, and makes the deal go smooth, I will be mentioning them on the radio and warning them so they can listen live or go back to the podcast. If they are looking for a particular home for their buyer, I may announce that on the show. They are pleased, their buyers are delighted, and the worst thing that can happen is I may get a new listing.
Listening to RE experts and being open to their ideas is something that has worked. I will continue listening to podcasts, reading blogs, speaking to agents every day, or taking a suggestion from an AR member like Barbara Todaro, who never puts prices in her print media marketing. Thanks to one of her posts, my ads no longer contain the prices.
Since it has been working, I plan to do more of it!
