ft belvoir relocation: VA Loans Are A Benefit You Earned - 01/05/16 08:31 PM
If it hadn’t been for the VA Home Loan program I never would have been able to buy my first home.  As a young military widow with two children finding 20% down for a down payment was out of the realm of reality.
Fast forward and years later as a Military Relocation Professional/REALTOR® with Integrity Real Estate Group I’m proud to say over 60% of the clients we assisted in 2015 used a VA Home Loan to buy a home.  Our clients ranged from a young widow to a retired General and everyone in-between.

ft belvoir relocation: PCS to Fort Belvoir? Check Out Cardinal Forest - 10/07/14 10:48 PM
It seems Edwin Carr the developer of the Cardinal Forest in West Springfield knew the convenient location would attract service members stationed at Fort Belvoir and the Pentagon.  In fact talk about "hyper-local" advertising.  Looks like he had it figured out in 1965.
Guess what?  With  express Metro Bus Service (18G) running through the neighborhood to the Pentagon, Fairfax Connector Service to the Springfield Metro and easy access to I-95 the Pentagon is still easy to get to from Cardinal Forest.  Add in the expanded Fairfax County Parkway and the trip to Fort Belvoir and the new NGA facility have improved.

ft belvoir relocation: Planning a Move to Northern Virginia? - 09/26/14 08:18 AM
Planning for a move isn't rocket science.  I've moved so many times, including a move this summer, that I've learned a thing or two.

The #1 tip is GET ORGANZIED.
The day you accept a contract on your house is the day you should start going room by room to make three lists, what goes with you, what's trash and what to donate. If you haven't used it in the last few years (unless its a family heirloom) then chances are likely it should go in the trash or donate pile.
Pick one area in your house, preferably … (4 comments)

Newington Forest Community Information and Homes for Sale Driving through the Newington Forest neighborhood in Springfield you may encountered this guy just off the side of the road.  It is a nice reminder that when Newington Forest was being built 50% of the 734 acres of the development was set-aside as community common areas.  This resulted in a community with large mature trees and five miles of hiking and biking trails.

Cook Inlet A Fort Belvoir Address But It's Not Post Housing When most people think of a Fort Belvoir  address they immediately think of the U.S. Army Post.  However Cook Inlet shares the Fort Belvoir postal address with its close neighbor but it is not part of the Army Post.
About The Cook Inlet Neighorhood The first issue to clear up about the neighborhood is the name. Though the official Fairfax County tax records show the name of the subdivision as Cook Inlet the neighborhood is also advertised as Inlet Cove and the entrance sign coming in the community says Inlet … (2 comments)

Though the dairy barn at Grist Mill Park was built in the 1920's by Minnesota Senator Clapp,  the land is part of Union Farm owned by George Washington.  The farm was part of an original land grant in 1657 and passed through a few members of the Washington family until George Washington acquired it 1784.  The farm passed through multiple owners after George Washington's relatives sold it and eventually 78 undeveloped acres were acquired by the Faifax County Park Authority in 1978.

ft belvoir relocation: "Hi I'm Cindy It's Nice To Meet You" - 05/22/12 11:37 PM
Typical words we say when we first meet our clients.  Yesterday at the closing on my townhouse listing in The Forest at Southrun in Springfield VA, I meet the homeowner for the first time. When we started the process of selling their home in Springfield, the owner was on deployment in Afghanistan.  After multiple emails and a few phone calls the townhouse went on the market.  We had a solid offer within 2 weeks and then it was a matter of processing through the Department of Defense Homeowners Assistance Program (HAP).

ft belvoir relocation: West Springfield Welcomes The Newest Ledo Pizza - 05/01/12 11:03 AM
West Springfield VA has the honor of being the site of the 100th Ledo's Pizza in the country.  Ledo's was started in Maryland in 1955 offering rectangular and square pizzas with home rolled crusts and became an instant hit.  The Ledo's outside the University of Maryland is still run by the Marco's family that started the restaurant.Today Ledo's has spread it's wings outside of the DC area but as my clients and I discovered the pizza is still crispy and square!  The West Springfield location is in-between Giant Grocery Store and CVS at the corner of Rolling and Keene Mill Roads.  … (10 comments)

ft belvoir relocation: Early Design Center Options In Springfield VA - 04/25/12 05:53 AM
Today when you buy a new home the builder design center reminds you of a huge furniture store.  The builder offers you a myriad of choices for every room in the house.  In 1950's Springfield VA you had a "colororizer" to help you pick out the interior color scheme of your home.  I can remember friends who had homes with pink or turquoise kitchen appliances and yellow bathroom fixtures.  If you are looking for a home in Springfield VA today you can still find some homes with the original fixtures but more often you will find a home that is nicely … (10 comments)
