northwest indiana: What can 1.5 agents do in 3 weeks that one agent cannot do in 3 months - 07/19/11 06:03 AM

So what can 1.5 agents do in 3 weeks that one agent cannot do in 3 months?A few weeks ago, I met my parents, another couple and his sister for lunch.  I'll be honest.  I did not want to go. While Hacienda is not a bad place to eat, it is just not my favorite place to eat. However, that day was a great day to go.  As some of you know, I've been a mortgage professional, but in the last few years I decided to get my real estate license.  I never really intended to list or sell.  I have … (8 comments)

northwest indiana: Looking Past the Headlines - 01/16/09 03:51 AM
Looking Past the Headlines
I have preached and preached about the negative news that we get, but they are still up to it and it still makes me mad as a hornet.  In the latest, Mad Mortgage Machine blog and videocast, I go off on the papers a little as they expound and do not give the whole stories and how the banks are requiring more upfront points.

Here is the video and the link to the Rest of the Story.  I love Paul Harvey.

northwest indiana: It is up and Running - 12/12/08 06:32 AM
Oh, yeah, be afraid be very afraid.  I have both have Dave Woodson Blog and Mad Mortgage Machine blog up and running.  I will admit that they are no where near where I want them, but I have to start somewhere.    The podcast is closer now then ever before.  I am so excited since I was taken off of the air this summer.  I have longed for a place to be heard.
However, do not think I will be taking it easy here.  In fact, I am more dedicated to AR than ever before.
I used to fight with my nephew … (5 comments)

northwest indiana: Free Beer Tomorrow - 10/15/08 03:54 AM
"Nothing is worth more than this day." Johann Goethe (1749–1832) German dramatist and poet
My wife laughs at the sign in Hooters Restaurants.  Well, as far as I know, she has only been in two of them and it was not her choice.  I am frequent winger if you will.  Well, there about the bar hangs a sign that says "Free Beer Tomorrow".  Well, the problem is that tomorrow never gets here.
Are you struggling with FBT syndrome.  I know I do.  I plan to do this and I plan to do that and I never do a darn thing.  … (8 comments)

northwest indiana: I am in the Top 10 - 10/12/08 07:06 AM
My first ever blog was on October 4th, 2006, I sputtered and spattered for the next year to August 10th, 2007. Where I seemed to get what blogging was all about.
I have covered topis from getting kicked out of a Best Buy Store to my wife and child.  I am real person.  I feel pain and I know when I am being attacked by the average Joe LO.  I have had some ups and downs on AR.  I have read posts that made me laugh out loud and I read some that made me shut my office door so I … (15 comments)

northwest indiana: What Me Worry!?!?! - 10/08/08 02:29 AM
I will admit yesterday was not a good day for me.  I was mad, upset, and generally not in a good mood.  I was thinking and spending too much time doing so thinking about the economy and the likeliness of me staying in the business.  I love Real Estate and Mortgagea, I hate all of the junk that comes with it, but it has opened so many doors for me.
But, when people in Florida and Oregon read my blog and want me to do their loan.  Well, who am I to argue.  I think.  No, I know, that blogging has … (3 comments)

northwest indiana: New Bus service from Valparaiso to Chicago - 10/07/08 02:58 AM
A huge hit.  As stated this morning in the Post-Tribune paper.  There were not a lot for riders, but the ones that did ride it - Love it.

So, that in my mind gives me yet another god reason to move to Valparaiso, Indiana.  Non-stop bus service, with internet and many other amenities.  One rider commented, "that is was cheaper and more convenient than driving with the cost of gas, tolls, and parking.
Really, with the success of the bus service, it will give Valparaiso more ammuntion for a South Shore Spur.
Now, is really a gret time to buy … (4 comments)

northwest indiana: Slip, Slide and Away - 09/23/08 06:35 AM
Are you ready for some mucho ice carnage this year.
On Yahoo! today much of Northwest Indiana was mentioned today as we are in for an salt shortage.  I am sure we will have plenty for the margaritas (oh thank God), but we will have to contend with the dreaded salt/sand mixture that the rest of the state uses.
Here is the story in it's entirety from Yahoo!
And for good measure, here is what I think most of Northwest Indiana will look like after that first big ice and snow storm.

northwest indiana: Bounce, we like a good bounce - 09/23/08 02:18 AM
Hey, everyone, I just wanted to share a Mad Mortgage Machine Minute with everyone.
We have a nice bounce off of the 25-day moving average.  We are 44bps at this point in the day.  Oil is down under $108/barrel and stocks look to open higher.  Here watch this quick video from deep down in the Mad Mortgage Machine Bunker

If you have any questions or concerns - just let me knon.  I have my FHA Training ready for Realtors, I can come to your office or even do it face to face in a Starbucks for those that would … (1 comments)

northwest indiana: Hey, I Tried - 09/22/08 02:00 PM
Saturday, while I was out running a few errands.  I came across a Realtors sign that had a call capture # on it.  I called it to see who or what it might say.  And, I got a "that extension does not exist" recording.
So, today, I drove by the same place as I was out hitting a few places to market to and garner some more business.  I called again and again I got the same recorded message.  OK, I thought, I will call the Realtor on the sign.  I did and that was over 8 hours ago and he … (23 comments)

northwest indiana: 24 hour no AR, but plenty of water - 09/15/08 04:43 PM
Well, I am here in NW Indiana and I am battling the Battle of the Wet Basement.
It is touch and go since Saturday morning, the worst of it seemed to come last night as the rain stopped and waters kept rising.  Gosh, I need a Johnny Cash song here right now,
"how high is the water poppa; 2 feet high rising, darling"
OK. enough pf that. We are bad but I am hearing stories of worse in our area with Munster, IN taking a beating and my parents neighborhood they are battling it out, except my Mom and Dad.  I … (3 comments)

northwest indiana: Daddy do you... - 08/27/08 03:00 AM
This week was the eye opener for my daughter.  Yes, the little blonde girl in the picture with me.  She is real and not some paid celebrity though she was recognized the other day in the grocery store with my wife.
But, the other day, we were in my truck and she said, "daddy do you give people money to buy a house?"  I was, taken aback, she had never really talked about what I do.  I know she has heard me and my wife talk about our jobs.  My wife is an Actuary, and when she talks about her job.  … (6 comments)

northwest indiana: Are you on the list - you better hope you are not - 08/07/08 07:12 AM
As of this week a lot of mortgage brokers are out of business or at least should not be operating in the state of Indiana.  The brokers were given a year to comply with a 2007 law to name a principle broker, a lot like our Real Estate brethren, and have that person pass a state exam.  In NW Indiana, more than 75 failed to comply.
I will tell you that some have gone on to become a banker or just decided that they were done with it all.  If you feel that you are working with someone that is not … (3 comments)

northwest indiana: Who do you know? - 08/02/08 10:25 AM
I was just reading a pretty interesting article in the Washington Post.  Well, on Washingpost.com about the "6 degrees of separation".  I am sure we all have heard about the game "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon".  Where you name an actor and come up the shortest way back to Kevin Bacon.
Here is an example:
Arnold Schwarzenegger  to Kevin Bacon - Seperation of two
Kevin was in "we married margo" with Tom Arnold, Tom was in "true lies" with Arnold
Well, it got me thinking and I have heard this before.  Who do you know?
Who do you know who … (3 comments)

northwest indiana: Just got done - 06/25/08 04:29 PM
I just got done doing my first ever radio show by myself for the "Mad Mortgage Machine"  It was exhausting.  I started and restarted a dozen times.  I hate the way I sounded, did I repeat myself, did I say that twice or should I just scrap this whole thing.
I will post it as soon as it goes through prodcution.  I hate recording anything.  I am better shooting from the hip and feeling the pressure of doing a life show.  The postcast will be available sometime Saturday afternoon and I am working on show #2 as we speak getting ready … (3 comments)

northwest indiana: Home Buyer Seminar - June 10th @ 630pm - 06/07/08 04:29 AM
Education has always been my mainstay here in this industry and it is more important now more than ever.  I was holding monthly seminars, but got side tracked a little, but I am reviving them and they will always be on the 2nd Tuesday each and every month.  We have a great facility here at Indigo Financial Groupwith access to some of the leading industry experts in Mortgages, Credit and Real Estate.
This Tuesday and every second Tuesday of the month, I will be conducting my Home Buyer Seminar at my conference center in my my office located at 705 Franklin … (1 comments)

northwest indiana: The Gas Prices We deserve - 06/06/08 05:07 AM
I am not trying to sound like an old fogy here, I am not in that age range yet, but I really do remember when gas was 0.78 a gallon.  Yes, you could fill your 40 gallon tank $31.20.  As we enter this election year, I want people to take notice where both of our presidential hopefuls have placed us.
Did you know that China is 60 miles off of our coast drilling oil right now and we are not.  China, yes, the same China that claims to be our friend in moment.  Yet, they plan our destruction the next.  Oh, … (3 comments)

"There ain't no rules around here. We're trying to accomplish something."Thomas Edison (1847-1931)Inventor and businessman
Well, the above is not true in a sense.  We do have rules that we must abide by, but we are accomplishing many great things in the Northwest Indiana Real Estate Market.  We are approving a record number of loans as we are not afraid to go out on the limb to get things done.
The bonds opened very low this morning have erased all of those losses as when the Labor Department announced that unemployment was at its worst level since October 2004.  But, do not be lulled asleep … (0 comments)

"A problem is a chance for you to do your best."Duke Ellington (1899-1974)Composer, jazz musician
Well, the FNMA 5.5 bond fell through the 200 day moving average floor of support and bounced off the next floor of support.  We are still down, but not down enough to warrant a lock her, since the Jobs Report has already came out.
With the jobs report being better than expected, oil still doing some retreating and Wal-Mart coming out with some great sales numbers.  We still have a strong and growing economy, homes are still being sold and now is the time more than … (0 comments)
