Back in middle and high school, I tried to hide my tendency to turn to books as friends. Once in college, it became 'cool' to love to read and I was able to embrace my true love of reading.
As a young girl I spent hours and hours at small branch of the Fairfax Country library at Lake Anne Plaza in Reston. That branch has since closed--to be replaced by the Reston Museum--but I can still remember the thrill of the hunt when I would leave the heat of a warm summer day to enter the cool quiet of the library.

fairfax county: Drive In Movies on Saturday Nights--For FREE!

The Fairfax County Park Authority is sponsoring Free Starlight Cinema on Saturday Nights in August. Located in the Sully district at 5875 Trinity Parkway in Centreville (20120) this event begins at 7:30 pm and features children's games and entertainment before the movie, which begins at dark.

Thanks to Lauren Shifflet, Owner of Leesburg Canine Country Club, for getting in touch with me about my recent Reston Blog, http://activerain.com/blogsview/560718/What-are-my-Favorite. Lauren commented that she had many great memories of living in Reston.
She also mentioned that she left Reston, fairly recently, to start a new venture, The Leesburg Canine Country Club. I am always happy to pass on information about different recreational activities in the area. TLCCC is an off-leash social club that meets at Falcon Ridge Recreation Center. This one sounds like great entertainment for both you and your 4-pawed pals!

Clinics are being held today in Northern Virginia to assist homeowners who may be facing foreclosure.
The clinics are being held at Chantilly High School, 4201 Stringfellow Road, Chantilly, VA 20151 and at the Northern Virginia Community College - Woodbridge Campus, 15200 Neabsco Mills Road, Woodbridge, VA 22191-4099.
Walk-ins are welcome (and encouraged). There will be counselors on-site to work with homeowners.

Gloom and Doom is all we hear these days, but there are bright spots in the Reston Real Estate Market. Each of the zip codes in Reston has a variety of housing types (condominiums, townhouses and single family homes) which has an impact on the average sales price.
The real bright spot is the North Point area, the section of homes north of Baron Cameron Avenue in the 20194 zip code. In this market, the average days on market was 73 days, but the average sales price was up from the same quarter last year by 10.23% for an average of $559,200. … (0 comments)
