The Thai Mee Up food truck in Kahului has been doing such good business they now have a second truck serving their delicious Thai food in Pukalani, at the Kulamalu Town Center next to Longs Drugs. eat: My veggie and flower garden in Haiku Maui is always growing

My gardens in Haiku Maui are always growing and we usually have a series of ongoing garden patches, so there will always be something to harvest. Ideally we'll start a new section every couple of months, but in the depth of winter we just let it all go to give ourselves a break. New plants are started from seeds on a regular basis, or whenever I remember to do it. I'm lucky to have a farmer husband who will prepare the soil and add all the organic amendments, and leaves it to me to get creative with the growing.

I've been hearing a lot about the Mill House Restaurant at Maui Tropical Plantation, so pulled in the other day while driving by. I wasn't hungry enough to eat but I was curious to see what they have done by way of incorporating some old sugar mill features into their landscape. What a surprise to see the creative use of some old huge gears and other interesting machinery. How did they ever come up with this? What a great way to preserve a little bit of Maui's history.

There's a great little deli going on in the store, with daily plate lunch specails for $7.99. Also available every day is chili, and poke bowls. I tried the poke bowl and it was excellent!
