10.10.10 - 09/30/10 08:29 PM

Sacramento has been fortunate to have among its many landmarks, attractions and events, The Crocker Art Museum, which has been closed for a major expansion.  It will reopen to the public on 10.10.10 - Sunday, October 10th 2010 From 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM. The 125,000 square foot expansion triples the size of the museum, and improves visitor amenities and quadruples exhibition space to allow more of the permanent collection to be on view. Crocker Art Museum is the first public art museum founded in the West.  It was established by gift on May 6th 1885, when Margaret E. Crocker … (24 comments)

Lenders Must Produce The Note - 09/29/10 06:12 PM
Awhile back, I was alerted by a past client of a video posted on CNN titled, "Lenders Must Produce The Note."  The video speaks to the current arena of home mortgages, where troubled homeowners are often twarted in their efforts to negotiate with their lenders to avoid foreclosure.  Because so many mortgages were bundled, packaged and sold as derivatives on Wall Street, actually finding the entity that has your note can sometimes become difficult.  There is only one original note for your mortgage that has your signature on it. This document proves you owe the debt and they should know WHO OWNS THE … (10 comments)

As The Fruits of Summer Wane - The Fruits of Autumn Appear - 09/27/10 09:29 PM
When I left the local Farmer's Market this Saturday, I thought, fresh peaches and plums were likely to quickly come to seasons end.  However, up the road along highway 50, an  hour drive east of Sacramento, is a special place cradled in the arms of the Sierra Foothills.  Apple Hill, in autumn comes alive this time of year, when the apples are harvested and cider is pressed.  It is a delight for all. Originally, Apple Hill was a collection of approximately 16 ranches or orchards.  Today it boasts more than 50 ranches including Christmas tree growers, wineries, a micro-brewery, Spa, vineyards, and pumpkin patches.Apple Hill is … (23 comments)

Aaaarrr! – Don’t You Forget! - 09/15/10 11:19 PM

There is a particular holiday that comes each year, which my family takes seriously!  For those of you who haven't heard of it, International Talk Like a Pirate Day arrives each year on September 19th.The reason I'm letting you know a few days early, is to give you a weblink or two, so you can be certain to set aside this Sunday, for serious Pirate talk, and perhaps cook up a pot of Pirate Stew.I wouldn't want you to miss out sharing this "important" day with your friends, family and co-workers. Began in 1995 by John Baur and Mark Summers from … (44 comments)

Where Do Buyers Come From? - 09/12/10 07:24 PM

It is usual for home sellers to wonder and question real estate professionals about where homebuyers come from.  They wonder about the effectiveness of For Sale signs, Open Houses, various marketing and other tools used to sell homes successfully. It is estimated that 51% of homebuyers will find a home through their Realtor. Although 90% of homebuyers will initially look for homes and information via the Internet, only 19% will likely identify and purchase a home they found that way.9% Found their homes while searching various websites.Signs generate calls to Realtors and agents from 40% of homebuyers, interested in a house that … (73 comments)

September Brings Garden Shows to Greater Sacramento Area - 09/10/10 11:00 PM
The Greater Sacramento Region will play host to two Home Shows this month.  The California State Home and Garden Show began today at the Sacramento Convention Center at 13th and J Streets.  It will run all weekend.I can't believe I attended the Greek Festival at that same location last weekend.  I'm beginning to believe the Convention Center operates as some elaborate Time Machine.   All, I need do is show up, to experience alternative realities - Greek Festival one week, Home and Garden, the next.In 2 weeks, the Sacramento Home Show will open for 3 days, at CalExpo - 1600 Exposition Boulevard, Sacramento.
Dates, Times, Locations and Maps, … (13 comments)

Home Ownership vs. Renting - 09/07/10 09:30 PM

It isn't unusual for folks to ponder the benefits that can come from Home Ownership.  Here are a few things to consider:
(1) Predictability. Unlike rent, your mortgage payments don't go up over the years so your housing costs may actually decline, as you own the home longer. However, keep in mind that property taxes and insurance costs will rise.(2) Tax breaks. The U.S. Tax Code lets you deduct the interest you pay on your mortgage, property taxes you pay, and some of the costs involved in buying your home. (3) Equity. Money paid for rent is money that … (23 comments)

I had a little fun with fellow ActiveRainer and Sacramento Short-Sale Specialist, Elizabeth Weintraub, today.  We took in a few of the sights during Gold Rush Days in Old Sacramento, before having.lunch at Joe's Crab Shack on the river.   I had to laugh when Elizabeth, quickly set her sights on a tee-shirt, which expressed her present sentiments, "Bash ‘em in The Head."  It doesn't get much clearer than that!Old Sacramento is always a delight to see, and tops the list of things to do, for those visiting the Greater Sacramento area.  But each year during Gold Rush Days, … (34 comments)
