Osage Orange A fruit shaped like a brain that smells like an orange. What could it be? In walking a property yesterday that I hope to list soon I discovered a very unusual fruit? I immediately came home and started doing some research on the internet. This fruit is not like any other. It is adorning my kitchen table while I wait to introduce it to my grandchildren. I am writing this blog as I wait to have my tire fixed at SS Tire Auto Service Center at 3650 Boston Road in Lexington.
This afternoon as I was about to leave a listing appointment in Wilmore the client discovered my tire was almost flat. He had an air pressure tank that got me enough air to get to this shop.
I drove here because it is on my way home but it also came highly recommended by my friend Mike Baldwin.

Just Wondering? Are Gas Prices Indicative of Local Housing Markets? I drove home this afternoon from Michigan after a wonderful visit with our daughter. On our way to Ann Arbor I had noticed that gas prices were much lower than they are in Lexington. Therefore I planned to make sure I filled the tank in central Ohio on our way south on I-75. The further we travelled away from Michigan the more prices of gasoline seemed to be dropping. One of my great joys in the fall is raking leaves. Am I crazy?
While raking I always have this deep sense of the presence of God. Falling leaves remind me of the story of the manna God provided in the desert. Leaves are manna for the earth. This morning my daughter served us Kasha for breakfast. It was a pleasing pallette experience that completely surprised me. If my understanding is correct Kasha is a roasted buckwheat that originated in Russia.

Today my wife and I took our grandson Sam to the Fire Museum in Ipsalanti Michigan. My daughter gave me the address and said just use your phone GPS to get there dad. Since we are driving a rental car and I am too frugal to rent a GPS I really had little choice.

Hi Gardening Friends, Mostly I want to share this video with you and give you an update on what is happening in the garden. I harvested two Shantung Suyo cucumbers this weekend that were 18 inches long. This is one of the few hybrid seeds I grow. I stumbled upon the seed at Fedco a few years ago. It is never bitter, grows rapidly and taste so sweet that I cannot resist it even though it is a hybrid. Just a note about diatomaceous earth (DE) and how it is helping control those awful borers. Forty years ago at the age of 21 years and 3 days old I married my first and only serious girlfriend. Kathy was only 19 and willing to marry a poor Idaho boy who was in the Army during Viet Nam. We stuffed our meager belongings into our diminuative Datsun pickup and coaxed it all the way to Fort Riley Kansas from North Idaho. Last week I had the opportunity to visit Possum Trot with an excellent videographer, Chad Rumford. The dogwoods were beginning to bloom, the azaleas teased us with their first florescent buds breaking open, the lobelia was trailing over the rock walls and the beauty of the deciduous forest dressing themselves with new buds was stunning.
