A Level II Drought Alert is not conducive to showing properties

By
Real Estate Agent with HomeSmart Realty West CalBRE #01458572

My owner is a Realtor with Century 21 Award in San Diego.I really appreciate it when Sellers have been informed by their Realtors that I'd like to bring my buying Clients by to look at their lovely home.

Clean kitchen, no dishes in the sink, no dirty clothes anywhere, beds made, showers and sinks clean, etc.

Unfortunately, there is one thing that seems to be occurring more often due to our Level II Drought Alert. When it comes to using the toilet, or "water closet" as plumbers like to call it, the various water districts encourage us to let it mellow if it's yellow and flush it down if it's brown.

I would encourage Sellers to go ahead and not let it mellow if you know that someone is coming by to look at your home or, at the very least, please put the toilet seat down. Thanks for your cooperation.

Sorry I don't have any pictures.

GEEZ!!

I worry about the yard signs that say "Voluntary Water Restriction" in July/August in Northern Virginia.

I live with a well and septic and anything can happen.  We store water in gallon jugs.  I usually keep about 30 gallon jugs full stored, primarily for flushing when the electricity is out or other problems.  Seems to me the folks there could do the same thing.

If I were going to try to sell a home, I'd surely keep clean toilets.

GEEZ!!

Jim - If I'm trying to sell my house, perhaps a slight form of disobedience would be employed. We had a severe drought here a couple years ago and were never urged to leave unclean toilets. I'm with Lenn - GEEZ

Hey, Lenn - Even though we are in earthquake country and should always be prepared for such a disaster, I doubt that very many people are, so to expect them to have thirty gallon jugs full of water and stored for when the electricity goes out probably isn't going to happen. Besides, with their garages already full of stuff, where would they store thirty gallons of water? LOL

Typical San Diego garage

Hey, Claude - Civil disobediens might be even more relevant since no one would really know if one was flushing one's toilet too often. However, if everyone -- almost four million people just in San Diego County -- took that stance, we'd probably run out of water very quickly.

Jim,

LOL, I think it's ok that you didn't have any pictures this time. Our imaginations will do us just fine. Plus the picture of Zoey the cool cat makes up for it. Interesting situation you all have with the drought. I'm with you though- flush it down no matter what if you know people are coming to look at your house.
