Metrolina Greenhouses in Huntersville, NC, just outside of Charlotte, NC - over 150 ACRES of greenhouses - the largest, single- story greenhouse in America! Acres and acres of beautiful plants, on the ground and hanging from baskets. Look at all the poinsettias! Hey - Charlotte's got a lot!!!
Wow, I am sure that the pictures don't capture the sheer size of the place, but I get the idea. It's huge. Looks like they grow quite an assortment of flowers. Just noticed the hanging baskets of flowers up above. They must have quite the staff and equipment to take care of a place this size.

Charles - the pictures really don't capture the sheer size of it. It's quite an operation. They have machines that transplant .5 inch saplings without ruining them, and automatic sprinklers that water the baskets when they swing around on a conveyor belt.
I was struck by how well they take care of their employees - good salaries and benefits, plus they help pay for some college costsfor the employees' kids. They've found that the better they take care of their employees, the less turnover, and therefore the less training time.
I need a place like that here!!! I put annuals on my desert landscaped "dry riverbed" and that would definitely help me choose a color palette!
