Cortina is located on Power Road just North of Queen Creek Road in Queen Creek, Arizona. Queen Creek is located in Maricopa County, in the South East Phoenix valley. Just across the street is Power Ranch, which is located in Gilbert. Power Road divides Gilbert from Queen Creek. You'll find lots of great shopping close by: Albertson's, Safeway, Blockbuster Video, Rosati's Pizza, Barro's Pizza, Panda Express, McDonald's, Subway, Walgreen's, etc. Home Depot, LA Fitness, Taco Bell, Dunkin Donuts, Tutor Time, and many more retail shops, offices, etc. are also located nearby on Power Road. Cortina is officially in the Maricopa County, Queen Creek city limits. Its location means that it is right on the border of Gilbert and Queen Creek. This provides quick access to the San Tan Freeway to the north, which takes homeowners to Phoenix, just 40 miles from the town. Some people fondly refer to this area as "GilCreek". The area where Cortina is located is very much like and close to Gilbert, but its properties generally carry a less than Gilbert price tag. You can actually purchase a home here for less than $150k, or homes over 4000 square feet priced in the high 200's and upwards of $300k. Cortina is one of the newer communities in the area with homes no more than 7 years old.
The K-8 elementary school is in the subdivision, called Cortina Elementary. It is part of the Higley Unified School District. High School students attend Higley High School which also features a Center for the Performing Arts. It is located a few miles away on Pecos Rd and Recker Rd. Bus service is provided.
