RainCamp - Los Angeles - My Summary!

On Saturday, May 15, 2010 on the campus of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California about 200 lucky attendees found themselves at the cutting edge of today's real estate market ideas with exceptional presentations from Ben Kinney, Brad Andersohn and Tom Ferry.

Rain Camp - Los Angeles

The day was action-packed with a TON of new ideas presented for how to move your business forward using the latest of today's social media, technology and motivational ideas.

With a wide array of attendees such as veteran blogger Jeff Dowler, my associate and serial blog "lurker-only" Oscar Mora and soon to be new member Christopher M. Vaughan a real estate auctioneer from Huntington Beach, there was something for everyone to learn!

It was also a great place to actually MEET people that we've already met in ActiveRain.  I didn't take full advantage of this as I needed to leave promptly at 5:00 and missed the after-hours at Melody's Bar & Grill but I spotted many familiar faces in the crowd such as Ralph Gorgoglione, Stewart Penn, Cheryl Johnson, Melanie Hedrick, Vic Steele, Jane Peters, Christine Donovan, Melissa Zavala, Andi Grant, Carla Muss-Jacobs, Tony Marriott, Karen Parsons-Fiddler, Jill Watts, Kat DeLong and many others.

I've done my best to compile a comprehensive set of notes from the event which you can find by looking at the

No promises that I've captured it all - but I've already been told that I'd be a great guy to have as a friend if you needed to cut class.  With temperature in the 50's on Saturday, no one was tempted to cut class to go to the beach.  Thanks Seattle guys for bringing your crummy weather.  ;-)

And I also want to give a shout-out to Sue Eller who worked tirelessly on a 7 minute video of the day which encapsulates many of the highlights of the day.

Lyn - Yes, Tom was a great feature.  I wasn't really able to do justice to what he covered as he's pretty fast paced but I captured as much as I could.

Allen - Please feel free to bookmark and come back often.  Try a 'one-a-day' approach and you'll find success.

Michael thanks so much for the notes.  I'm going to RainCamp DC and I think I'll print your notes and take them as a base for my own notes.

Thanks again,

Stacy

Could you bring a laptop to most of the seating? How many attendees would you guess  convened for the event? Thanks for the notes!

You do take excellent notes Michael. I bookmarked this as after reading the 'early Morning Session' I already know I need to read the others.

Thanks for your effort as I couldn't make it Saturday.

Patricia - Watch for the New England edition of RainCamp.  I think there's a groundswell request gaining steam!

Stacy - Hope they help.  There should be some things you can implement in the interim and remember things keep changing so they might be a little outdated by then!

Cheryl - I paid for 'Platinum' access which gave me a seat with tabletop access and power.  If you look in the photo you can see the front/lower seats had the tables while the upper deck was seating only.

Cameron - You're quite welcome to the notes.  It's too bad you couldn't make it but watch for the next round when it heads this way!

Nice job Michael... I thought that I was 100% in touch with my inner nerd this weekend when I managed to type up 6 full pages of notes from the event. Your blog absolutely kills my notes and will now be my new point of reference for LA raincamp! Instant ReBlog

Hi Michael,

Hey, I just went back to your blog to dig into the notes and noticed you updated your post with a wonderful PR blurb about my video! How nice of you!  A big thanks.

Daniel - Yes, put attendance at a RainCamp on your bucket list - everyone should attend!

Adam - Thanks for the kudos and the reblog!  As Tom inspired us to do, I reached for '10' performance and the inner nerd was brought into play.

Sue - Your video was excellent and I really wanted to include a reference to it in my blog.  I think it helps to round out the whole experience for those who want to get an idea of what they missed.  :-)

Marilyn - You are quite welcome!  I started the writing mainly for myself but I recognized that I was doing a pretty good job and thought it only fitting that I share with those who couldn't be in attendance.  Make it a point of going whenever it is in an area near you!

That picture was two years old, but I couldn't get over the fact that you said it could have been more updated, so here is my new profile photo; taken less than two hours ago Michael!

Thanks Michael.  I was more than a little self-conscious so I wanted to get it updated.  Did you see the new Attended Rain Camp buttom under Lanre's name?  That's a new one that I have not seen.

Was this post featured?  It should have been.  With over 50 comments, the Community has spoken!

I was a little bummed when I found out they are changing the format of Rain Camp, then I realized something great; we got the "old" version and now we can immediately go back and get the new version.  Perfect!  Which one are we going to next Michael?  D.C. is not super realistic for me, so hopefully something in Colorado, Texas, Arizona or even Utah or Northern California.  I could get excited about any of those locations!

Hmmmm. I wonder if I could convince my wife to go to Florida Rain Camp and take in Disney World?  Let me know when you see the schedule come out Michael - I know you are as excited to go back as I am!

Hi Vic - I did NOT notice the new button.  I'm jealous - we NEED one of these.  And yes, this one was featured and I'm MISSING my gold star for a feature as this was my first featured post.

Badges, we NEED our stinkin badges!

Change in format is inevitable in this business so I actually never expected the format to stay the same for too long.  So yes, I'm going to make it a priority to keep going to RainCamp whenever I get the chance!
