Some Real Estate Agents Insist On Having ALL The Fun

By
Home Stager with Sharon Tara Transformations

In a recent post "Home Stagers and Real Estate Agents...Fun Work and Easy Money" I wrote about how over worked and under appreciated real estate agents are.  One solution to improve their situation would be to find a professional home stager they trust to work with their clients.

Some agents, however, just don't want to share the fun...they want it all for themselves.

party animalWould the agent's job be easier if a stager were assisting their sellers prepare the house for sale?

Sure it would be easier, but the agent would miss the fun of creating the seller's to-do list and justifying the expense investment of the necessary improvements.

They wouldn't get to have that conversation regarding the foul smell in the laundry room or the pet stains on the carpet.

Would the agent's MLS photos be more appealing if the house were professionally prepared?

Sure they would, but anyone can attract buyers with great pictures.  The real fun is in the challenge of attracting buyers with bad pictures.

Would the house sell faster if it were more emotionally appealing to buyers?

Sure it would sell faster, but then the agent would miss out on hosting Open Houses and coming up with creative responses to questions about the confusing floor plan and the apparant lack of maintenance, closet space, and overhead lighting.

Besides, the longer the house is on the market, the more FUN and interesting people you get to meet.

Would the commission be higher if the house sold sooner and without a price reduction?

Sure it would, but real estate isn't about making money...it's about all the fun you can have doing it!

Home staging not an option, in the budget for two new listings we have that are $25,000 and $24,000. The price so attractive, causing wolf whistles is the curb appeal, carrot to make the phone ring, showings to happen, closings to take place.

Andrew:  Those are the lowest prices I've seen!  That's a whole other story!

Julie:  Stagers have some fun all of their own!  We all have stories we could tell of our "fun" at work.

Cynthia:  Thanks!  All the interesting ones start showing up...who would want to miss that!

Katherine:  I'm sure there is a stager that would be happy to relieve you of some of that fun!

Shelley:  You are welcome!

Sally:  I'm not sure you have any room for any more fun!  You already have so much fun in your life!!

OMGosh Sharon you've been reading my mind and thoughts.  Don't forget about all of the fun that we have...or people think we have, ironing, lugging tubs, cleaning what was suppose to be already clean etc. etc. etc.  Thanks for the giggle this am.  (-:

I have a stager that I do work with here and I wish it was easier convincing the clients to use her because I would use her with every single listing!

Debra:  It can be really hard to get sellers to understand the importance of staging.  Use examples of past success you've had where staging has made a difference.  Explain to them that staged homes will sell faster, with less price reductions and for more money.
