An Apple A Day. Not 30 Apples On The Last Day Of The Month!

An apple a day: Mike in Tucson, Mortgage LenderThere is a discipline required for success.  It's called "Consistency."

I took this photo yesterday in Salt Lake City, where I've been attending a motivational business convention.  (It's why you haven't seen me for a few days on Active Rain.)

Our hotel lobby kept this basket filled to the brim with apples for its guests, and a thought occured to me as I picked one up and bit into it.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but you wouldn't want to have to eat 31 of them on the last day of the month!

And that's the business lesson I took away from a basket of fruit!

How's YOUR sales plan progressing this month?

Mike,

Now you need a wash tub and watter and some one to "call" the dance.

Salt Lake ought to be into "bobbing" but you might be just a little early.

Hope you had a good time!

Bill

Mike,

It is amazing how we can find inspiration from things around us and from things as simple as a basket of fruit.  We are at the beginning of the month, so it is a nice time to implement the business lesson!  :)

Ah, Mike...

We look everywhere for consistency, when consistency is within us, waiting to be set free to work its magic...

An apple a day ... a blog a day ... this can all add up to success. I like being consistent, it works.

Mike, In fact, 31 apples consumed in one day might end up with the sales person wearing dentures. Now I could discuss the possible effects on the digestive tract but guess you'd prefer I stick to teeth. :)

Mike ... Good to see you and your photo images again.  I like the metaphor to eat one apple a day, not just all 31 on the last day of the month.  I am on my way now to get my apple for the day (literally and figuratively).

You're right, I sure wouldn't want to eat 30 apples in a day... I have enough trouble eating one a day.  LOL.  Good point that can easily be carried over to business and life.

Mike -- hope you had a safe trip home after passing through Flagstaff in that rainstorm. I got your text when I turned on my phone after finishing 18 -- we watched the storm coming at us on the last two holes, but it was sunny all the way around in my little slice of Flagstaff.

Excellent thought, Mike.  And to further relate it to real estate - why does everyone always want to close on the last day of the month?  Why not schedule your closing 5-6 days before in case there are any "burps" in the system?  Why would you want to be among 50 harried clients that the title company and loan company and agents and every one else is just rushing around for?  Why not chose a less hectic day when people will actually have time to explain page 4789 of your closing documents (ok, a slight exaggeration.)   Great analogy.

BTW - we had some awesome storms today and I've got some great pix coming - hope you'll stop by after you get "home."

Barbara-Jo,

I'm inconsistent at the practice of consistency.  Better than being consistently inconsistent, though.  I guess...

Juli,

All my realtors want me to close before the end of the month!  Doesn't matter what day they got the signed offer...  Okay, that's a little exaggeration, but we aim to please.

Ann,

It was just beautiful, driving through that rainstorm, and the silver lined clouds after the storm passed by were outstanding!

Margaret,

I like apples!  Thanks for stopping by to comment.

Harrison,

Who's your lender?!  Give me a call.

Susie,

We used to feed the horses apples when I was a kid on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Joan,

Oh, have two!

Kate,

Thanks for sticking to the "teeth" story...

Cynthia,

Yes it does!

Mike,

You have a way with words!

Gerry,

I noticed that!  Go sell houses!

Bill,

It was a GREAT time!

How appropriate. We are having a "call" contest and it's much easier to do a few a day than having to play "catch up" and make all those calls the last day of the month!

Also, thanks for sharing your photos. That is way cool of you!
