You hear the media harping about the economy, real estate ups and down and so much does not apply to a rural state like Maine.

We in Maine are 46th lowest ranked for states with real estate sales that are foreclosures, repossession properties or short sale listings.

Under 1% of our Maine real estate sales are in that real estate quicksand while the country as a whole has 25% tested positive for that type of property situation.

Our Maine real estate bubble did not blow, grow, expand larger and larger and than burst.

Maine, low cost real estate all the time.

Means we don't struggle with payments. Like to get the places paid off quickly. Have no mortgage around our necks, over our heads. Friendly people, 4th lowest crime state, a place you don't have to lock doors. Not many places like Maine.

Hi Andrew,

Wow, sounds like the folks and real estate of Maine are rock solid!

And yes, I'm in one of those states, CA that rode the wave to a new crest. Today our numers of short sales are amazing. Not nearly as many foreclosures in my own area, yet we have a high volume of short sales, especially in the entry level housing. For us, today that's most everything under about $450,000-$475,000.

Lynda...that bubble is still round, rugged, won't burst. We are in our own little world and the way life should be. Used to be other places. Family, respect for others, low cost real estate and wildlife, natural 4 season outdoor recreation. I am a personal fan of the state of Maine. You should feel the same fire in your belly about California and blow your horn on the reasons why.

Andrea..Allagash is a whole 'nother part of Maine. We market property in the Masardis, Ashland area just to the south of it. You ought to come. The office will appreciate you more if you are missing a few days. you need the recharge, vacation. Wow, mountain with a lake...sounds pretty spectacular.

Cal...you know. Simple living does not mean simple headed. Just enjoying what's around us rather than rush rush or thinking material things make you happy. They put you in debt, are not real and your kids are watching your behavior.
