Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad:  Upcoming Special Events

Lebanon Mason & Monroe RailroadLove to ride the rails?  Have we got a Warren County Ohio attraction for you!  The Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad terminal is just a block south of the nationally famous Golden Lamb in historic downtown Lebanon Ohio!

Train rides are approximately 5 miles in each direction in a 1930's vintage railroad car and last approximately one hour.  WARNING:  There are NO restrooms on board, so make that pit stop BEFORE riding the train!

Upcoming special events include:

  • Murder Mystery Dinner Train:  45 minutes of train ride with the mystery unfolding as characters interact with you on the train ride!  Then on to Golden Lamb for dinner, then to the conclusion of the murder mystery afterward!
  • Pumpkin Patch Express:  Ride the train to Schappacher Farm in Mason and tour a working farm, corn maze and select a pie pumpkin (just the pumpkin...you have to make your OWN pie!).  HURRY, Halloween Weekend is the last of these for the year!
  • Tea Party Express:  A one hour train ride, and learn history from the mid 1800s!  Passengers will be eligible to win an American Girl® Kirsten mini doll!  After the train ride, on to the Warren County Museum for tea and crafts (tea and crafts portion sold separately).
  • Kindervelt's 12th Annual North Pole Express:  One day only, November 20th, proceeds to Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  Event includes reading of The Polar Express, and comes with cookies, cocoa and St. Nick!

Kellie, There's always plenty going on, sometimes the trick is looking up long enough to see it!

Scott, The Golden Lamb has been around since the early 1800s.  A Real Life, "Presidents have slept here" kind of place!

Chris, If you like this, you'd LOVE the one at my parents in West Virginia.  Look up Cass Scenic Railroad!  Rode it many times as a kid (when your mom's from there and relatives are engineers and conductors, there's always a free ticket for a kid!).

Dawn, The closest we've come is the occasional dinner theater!  We've seen this train make it's run plenty of times, but haven't went for a ride yet.  It's only about 4 miles from our home too.

You know, this is such a nice opportunity -- had one of these near our home in DE and one of the events offered included a Barbershop Quartet to harmonize during the desert part of your meal.  It was so much fun.  I hope you'll take the time to enjoy this.

janeAnne, You wouldn't be all that far from the train near my parents in Cass, WV.  Unfortunately, I think this weekend's run is the last of the season!  With it's run up the mountains similar to the ones in your area, you'd feel right at home!

Tish, This train actually had to bounce stations for about a year of so.  Some of the railroad bridges needed repair, big dispute over who should pay for them.  Lebanon stepped up to the plate to fund the repairs on condition the train owners locked into sticking around!  They did, bridges repaired and all's good!

We plan to take the train ride one of these times when our nephew visits.  He'll have a blast!
