Yard Signs....

So I need to buy some new for sale signs and for some reason or another I can't decide on which type to get...it seems like such an easy thing to do but after doing a bit of research and speaking with a few companies one would never believe the amount of bells and whistles that go along with a simple for sale sign.   Full color, 4 colors, laminated, not laminated, reflective, non reflective....and that is just the sign itself, the stand is a whole nother thing to decide on.

The ones that I have been using are just the standard simple for sale sign that you would see anywhere.  I'm the type that likes things simple and to the point, extra things just distract me and I'm sure they must distract whoever is looking at the sign as well.

Another small problem is that being here in Hawaii in the middle of the ocean shipping is a pretty penny so I'm pretty much stuck with going with a local company.  It has its drawbacks but also I like to support my community as much as possible.

Any great ideas and/or suggestions on signs?  Has anyone found that one type gets more calls then others?  Thank you Rainers in advance!!

Signs are personal and the most important physical aspect to the neighborhood.  It is really your choice.

I use several different types of signs.  I use a special sign for estate/luxury properties and standard ones for other properties.  I also have custom signs painted/installed for commercial or ranch properties.  I think it is important that the signs be in good condition and not be faded.  I don't hesitate to toss out the ones that start looking bad.

I place QR Codes & Texting codes on the rider signs.

Ny strongest suggestion with regard to signs is that they should be clear and easy to read from a moving car. You don't want people thinking "It was a blue and green sign? Who has blue and green? Oh, you mean it could be X Agency or Y Agency."

That has happened in our area - Lots of signs that pleased a graphic designer, but impossible to read unless you stop the car.

Chris,

I use 800 call capture on my signs, I print it right on the signs (I don't like riders - it looks messy). I also have a trackable QR code printed on the sign (the kind you can redirect), and a direct number to a Google voice number, we can send the calls anywhere we want to.

That said, simple, clear, clean... Don't overdo the graphics, make your numbers big.

However, one of the things we definitely get the most calls from... The flyers, so I urge you to not forget about those.

Chris, keep it simple.  Make sure your tel # or website is clear, and somewhere the sign says "For Sale."  Metal lasts longer than the plastic ones, where the ink in the plastic can bleed when exposed to water.  Metal is better IMO.

I think simple is the answer, the drivers only have a few seconds to read it.  Yet distinctive.
