August 21, 2006 In Hind Sight. Changed my life for the better.

August 21, 2006 is the day I joined Active Rain.

I wanted to publish some thing that was uniquely mine. Some thing I used and taught that only I and my students used. Some thing of value. Some thing the readers could make money with. Some thing I'd only taught FLI and CCIM's and my own 13 week classes.

I submitted Net Offers A Better Real Estate Option A revision of an idea I'd included in my first book.

This was at a time when sellers still had equity. I was at once over whelmed with in a few days 3,000 people had read it. I was equally disappointed only two commented and they didn't read the article or didn't know the difference between listing, selling or buying.

Five days later I tried again with Successful Lease-Options Now I'd syndicated this article and it was read all over the world just a few months before. AR drew 2,900 readers I was baffled only one comment, but it did lead to a National interview.

I tried again on 9-1-06 again wit something totally unique Beat The Sharks a variation on another of my short classes I'd taught and used. Half as many readers, but it brought Brian Brady and I together, some thing I'm truly grateful for! There is no greater example than Brian's A Realtor's Guide to "PMI & Short Sales" Of what AR should be! I couldn't be prouder of it if I'd wrote it! On 11-17-2006 it may also have been the first discussion about Short Sales.

The next day I published A Consumers Guide To Mortgage Brokers And The Evil Yield Spread Premium  I'd syndicated this in 2005 and according to several syndicators it was the most published article on the subject that year, having been published on 4 continents in at least five languages yet it languished here. I was depressed so I reposted it 10-30-06 and got my first feature! And 4,400 (44% of the members) readers. Life was good. Sadly we're going to see a huge change in the industry to the determent of consumers and professionals with the implantation of Dodd-Frank, because it's was PC to point fingers than admit any possible duplicity.

I made some decisions! After 71 one days and 11 post, I decided to thine own self be true! I would continue to write about what I was passionate about. To write about the things that had been shared with me over the years. I would not worry about points of features. I would write meaning full comments, not PC ones or those just for points! August 21, 2006 In Hind Sight. Changed my life for the better.

I do like both giving and receiving short light "Hi's" from people I know. Often showing up saying little or nothing says more than "War and Peace" if you know the person.

Would I do it again? Absolutely!

What do we get out of Active Rain? That really depends on what we put into it! And, what we're looking for, you'll find what you seek! Personally I get, fellowship, education, currency, self-satisfaction, professional friends, some good friends and some great friends! August 21, 2006 In Hind Sight. Changed my life for the better.

My goal is to post twice a week, but with this my 700th post I'm averaging better than one posting ever two and a half days. I do tend to write in spurts. Posting just to post leads to lighter content. It's just not what I do! I still want to: I wanted to publish some things that are uniquely mine. Some things I used and taught that only I and my students use. Some thing of value. Some thing the readers could make money with. Some thing I'd only taught limited groups!

See you soon.

Bill like you I post a blog when I have something that I feel of value to share, especially about changes in our industry.  I appreciate the features and the points are a bonus, but it would be a waste of my time if the points and features were the focus of my blogging.  I don't feel pressured to blog so that I can keep the point total going, so I blog when it is appropriate for me.  I have been fortunate to of had my blogs read by many during my time here on AR.  My focus is to some how bring value to this community, when that stops being my focus, then the blogging will also cease.

George,

You too are on my list.

I feel the same way about posting.

I get depressed about numbers that would have thrilled me in "06, because membership was only 10,000. The hardest thing today is finding new voices to subscribe to. They're there just hard to find.

Bill. That sure seems like a long time ago doesn't it? This network has changed quite a bit since the early days. Not as much comaradie as we used to have. We had some pretty lively discussion back then. Of course the real estate market was dead slow so we had a lot of time on our hands.

I cannot remember which AR member said this, but I did hear someone say that AR is a real estate convention open 24/7. It is so true, and it is great to meet some of the convention friends at local events. Thanks so much for your candor and comments on my blogs.

Melissa,

"AR is a real estate convention open 24/7."  Is a great way to explain Active Rain.

I like people to say "Hi" but I except and accept respectful candor from friends!
