Just as STAR WARS was based in theory of the myth, Swalepoel follows a well-known path. The concept of myth was outlined years ago by Joseph Campbell (1904-1987), who studied how mythology functioned in many different cultures. Two of Campbell's main theories related to the concept of the "hero" and to the dual nature of myths: Campbell believed some myths based themselves on "specific societies" and, other myths were based on the "metaphorical of spiritual potentiality in the human being".
Heroes were important to Campbell because, to him, they "conveyed universal truths about one's personal self-discovery and self-transcendence, one's role in society and the relation between the two". In Swanepoel's book, we have the hero as represented by the character Zachariah, and the development of each person's "spiritual potentiality" when the hero/Zachariah shares his philosophy.
As found in most myths, folk tales and legends, Swanepoel allows the characters in his book to be the illustration of his message. In addition, in this story, Swanepoel offers the reader an opportunity to determine the reader's own position for the personal journey to Mastery. He provides a QUIZ to determine which wild animal best represents each person's character.

Swanepoel's theory asks us to place ourselves in the guise of an animal - the one his quiz determines for us! So - the big question may be answered quickly by taking the quiz: WHICH ANIMAL MATCHES MY PERSONALITY? But what about the answer I get? What if I don't like the animal to which I am assigned? "That is the question!"
The answer comes with a chart of characteristics that parallel the personality of the animal you match. Interestingly enough, I found that MY PERSONALITY DID CORRESPOND to the characteristics Swanepoel assigned to that particular wild animal.
Have fun with the quiz!
