Direction, correction and suggestion should be sought after and coveted in not just your daily life, but throughout the moments of the day. Think about this for just a moment. Having purpose and something to practice it on defines meaning in ones life. These things support that.
DIRECTION: Children need this as they grow and mature. They need to be nudged, counseled, guided and monitored so that they stay the intended course parents have lay-ed out for them. Some adults would do well to have this too. Employers must feed this daily to their staff to compliment the business plan. Even on a trip, the itinerary explains where we are and how we will get there. We all need to know where we are going
CORRECTION: Another tool in which to nurture and shape the child coming of age. How this is done can affect a person for their whole life. If it is done with injustice, it becomes dysfunctional and does more harm than good. If it is done with love and good motives, it will benefit all concerned. Failure to do this promotes a by-product that produces laziness and feeling of not being wanted or loved. As adults, we need this too to help us stay on track to optimize what we are doing.
SUGGESTION: When someone is open to feed back or input, it can only lead to a better scenario no matter what you are doing. Suggestion directly addresses the dreaded blind side that we all have, but can not see. Others see your blind side and whether they tell you or not about what they see can affect our results and successes. It can also lead to failure if not shared, welcomed and acted upon.
There are people starving for these things that didn't get them when they were growing up. Some have to seek professional counseling and pay so that they may get these things to now address their needs and function with satisfaction. If you read the bible, how often God wanted to communicate these things only to get indifference, arguments and disappoints followed by sorrows and repentance.
In marriages, friendships, and relationships of all sorts, to exchange these things with each other can only enhance and further what we all want and need. The unseen enemy of these three are the pride and the ego. An undisciplined nature doesn't want correction, or want suggestion and wont take direction. Remember this when you give it and remember this when you get it.....
