California Poppy Reserve in the Antelope Valley! A must see Destination.

There is so much to see in California. Nature has blessed the Golden State with an abundance of wildflowers; you just have to go look for it. The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve SNR (State natural Reserve) has been on my list to see for many years.

This spring has been rather interesting for wildflower displays. According to the Park's website it has been an unusual for Viewing of the Poppy Blossoms, because they were late. The first few blossoms came in February a month later than normal. Poppies do not like the cold and windy climate; hence they are late this year.

This is good news for us because we intend on going to see the wildflowers this Saturday. So I am not sure what we will see, but we will make sure to take a lot of pictures and let you know. We might see Owl's Clover, grape soda lupine (blue/purple flower) after all there are over 40 different wildflowers that are blooming in the spring.

Keep in mind Dogs are not allowed on the trails if you do go, unless they are service dogs with distinguishing markers on them.

If I peeked your interest but you would like more information please contact  The Los Angeles County Wildflower Bloom Information Poppy Reserve Wildflower Hotline (661) 724-1180 , or the Theodore Payne Foundation's Wildflower Hotline (818) 768 3533 Parking Fees is $10 per vehicle.

If you do go plan on Wind & Sunshine so do not forget your sun block and hats.

The Reserve is located 15 miles west of Lancaster at 15101 Lancaster Road, Approximately an hour and a half from Los Angeles.
