The Harford County real estate market is unique for Maryland.  It is far enough away from the major cities to have very affordable homes, but has major attractions for prospective Maryland home buyers.  The largest employer, The Aberdeen Proving Ground, occupies more than 72,000 acres along the Chesapeake Bay on the Eastern Shore of Harford County. Open since 1917, the mission has been, testing weapons for the military.  The mission has been expanded to include laboratory research and military training.  The mission at Aberdeen Proving Ground has been expanded since early 1992 and Harford County benefits from increasing personnel both military and civilian in the Base Realignment program.
