FireworksLocal Company Revives Mason's Red Rhythm & Boom Celebration for 2011!

Just when it looked like Mason wouldn't have it's annual Red, Rhythm & Boom July 4th weekend fireworks demonstration for 2011 due to budget cuts, a local company has stepped up to the plate and saved the day!

And wouldn't you know it, they're a fireworks company!  Prestige Fireworks of Mason recognized the need to keep the event going and has offered to take care of the equipment and insurance costs for the event to be held July 4th at Corwin Nixon Park.

While the event may be scaled down from some years past, no big name music acts, it should still be a fun time for everyone!  Food vendors and fireworks are a good formula for some good holiday memories.  The Mason Community Band has volunteered to provide entertainment for the event.

And here's how you can help!  SaveMasonFireworks.org has been set up to collect donations to help fund the fireworks via an Adopt a Shell program!  You can visit the website or go to any area Fifth Third bank and fund a shell or two or more!

For as little as $6 you can have a 3" shell go up and know you contributed to the show.  If you want to go for the grand poobah of shells, $200 gets a 4" finale chain shot of 12 bursts!  Wow!

So a tip of the hat from us to Prestige Fireworks and community members saving the event!

Brenda, another pleasant surprise for a Localism post :)  Pretty happy to see Prestige Fireworks and the Mason residents making it happen!

Juli, True!  Can't imagine a proper July 4th without some fireworks!  Like Cave Creek's way of funding the event.  I saw a stat that said the previous event cost the city $152,000, and I'm sure depending on the music entertainment it could get more expensive.

Dan, We've seen some cuts, and understand.  Beats cutting a city employee or more to compensate.

This is something we are seeing across the country. The fireworks display in Seattle was saved last year by a radio talk show who raised the money for the show to go on through the public.

This year Starbucks steps forward to do the display...

Paul, Glad to hear your local companies are stepping up.  I expect more of this "optional" type activities to be cut by local governments out of necessity until the economy has recovered, and once cut, not sure they'll ever come back as an official government sponsored event.

Anita, And nice that it's a joint effort!  Through their contributions, the residents can help determine just how long the show runs :)

Joni, Always fun to watch some fireworks!

That's awesome!  Kudos to Prestige Fireworks and the community teaming up to continue the show!

Due to the fact that Eastern Carolina has a burning ban (More Rain....Please), our entire coast may be Fireworkless this 4th :0(  I hope you are planning to Video the show so you can share with us... I bet it's going to be Fabulous!

Bliz, very impressive that a fireworks company stepped up to the plate. It was a brilliant idea to have residents donate for fireworks. Way to keep your local residents informed about a spectacular event.

Tammie, Definitely!  There's another fireworks company in the area I shall not name in respect to Prestige's effort here that is more well known, so perhaps a win-win on Prestige's part to get their name much more well known.  Kudos to them!

Brenda, It's mostly just a matter of tuning in to the local events.  I read the Cincinnati Enquirer (our biggest newspaper) daily.  I get another local paper on Thursdays.  So both our good sources for local news.  Then we set up some relationships with the local organizations (Historic Downtown Lebanon, Warren County Convention & Visitors Bureau, etc.), additionally we track quite a few attractions and sites on Facebook for their announcements of events.  See something interesting?  We dig for the details, write a post with our usual twist, add photos or video as they fit, and away we go :)  Oh, and lately we're adding a P.S. statement to remind folks that YES, WE SELL REAL ESTATE!! :)

Cindy, SO FAR....no appointments for this weekend!  But isn't that how most Mondays start?  And actually, we should probably knock out another fireworks post or two!  Mason's isn't the only shindig in the area :)

What a wonderful thing -- to have such a patriotic company step-up to the plate and extend this to the community!  It's so dry here, that we're going to have to watch videos!

Tish, Definitely an impressive act by Prestige Fireworks!  Maybe you'll get some rain in the next day or two and moisten everything up enough for some pyrotechnics!

I love the beauty of the fireworks, but as dry as it's been here in Alabama, the thought of fireworks just scares the heck out of me.  I'm happy for all who'll get to enjoy.

Nice to see the Fireworks chipping in for the community.  I hear Dino is giving a free concert in Branson Missouri at the Landing.  Should be lots of people there.......think I'll watch it on tv.

Charita, I think Bama has a common problem this year.  We got more than our fair share of rain this spring, and half the country got nothing.

Kay, We're not much on HUGE crowds either!
