Hey! Do Something!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Lake Homes Realty

Want something good to happen? Then do something!

Progress comes from action, not wishful thinking. And certainly not from procrastination.

Need more listings or buyers? Find new ways to work smarter and harder to connect with these clients.

Want your messages to be heard? Make the effort needed become a better speaker or writer.

Want to feel better? Eat healthier and become more active.

Want a greater income? Be of greater value, genuinely earn a promotion, or create your own income streams.

Do all these actions take effort? Of course. Progress requires movement. You have to do something to create change and improvement.

Now, you could do what most people do and just wait for things to be better. Talk about how bad things are and how you wish for something better. That can seem relatively easy compared to the effort to create your own changes.

Smiling businessmanThe "wait for it" approach is a wildly popular approach to life. It is why lotteries are so popular (and, no, buying a lottery ticket does not really count for much effort and even fewer successes). The "wait for it" system is common in real estate. Too many agents do little but list a property and put a sign in the yard, then wait for someone else to sell the house.

Can good things come your way without effort? Sure. Good fortune does befall many people. However, remember that such good fortune is less common for those who wait without much effort or initiative.

Can effort lead to failure? Sure. Show me someone that never fails and I'll show you someone that never accomplishes much. Failure is part of progress. Learn, adapt and continue.

Is being a more successful professional important? Need to sell more properties or make more loans? Want to be a better speaker or writer? Want something more or better in life? Then do something. In fact, do many things. Often.

Message heard over a larger area and with frequency means harnessing the media streams. One person can reach many now easily with a little device called the Internet. Video is one huge way to tickle the ears, dazzle the eyeballs of more real estate buyers and sellers.

Inaction is a career killer. . . but a caveat. .

Make sure you are not working carrying the water to town in buckets everyday day after day.. . being busy. .instead build a pipeline . . better use of your time.

Great advice, Glenn.  It is easier to sit and wait for things to change, but while you're waiting you might get sucked down the drain with the masses.  So, the only real alternative is to do something!  Good stuff.  Suggested.

Hi Chuck! Thanks for the encouragment! G

Hello Andrew, There are many tools we can use, especially if used wisely and not just the "same thing I heard someone else do" process so many use. Thanks! G

Hi Carol, "Forward" is an operative and great word and attitude! G

Hi Fernando! Yes, great point. Action for the sake of motion instead of progress is a waste. You are so right that action needs thought! G

Hello Mike! Isn't it interesting how many will still wait to get sucked down the drain and still wonder why it is happening?  Entitlement comes not only in social programs but in careers I guess. Thanks!! G
