Today is Mutt's Day! Celebrate your Pooch!
If you are like us, you love your mutt everyday, but today is a very special day for mutts and their owners...It's National Mutt's Day! As mutt owners, we 
know that mutts are the best darn dogs ever. Oh sure, those pure bred dogs are pretty cool too, but there is just something special about a Mutt!
We were lucky enough to have Layla join our family back in the spring of 2002. She was a stray and had been hit by a car. Animal Control brought her to the animal hospital I was working at for treatment. The moment I saw her, I was totally in love. A few weeks later, when she fully recovered from her injuries, she moved in with us. She has been a breath of fresh air in our home (although she could really use a bath right now) filled with cats who think we all work for them! She has played
body guard for Me and Tanner, she is a great watchdog and makes sure we know every time a squirrel or bunny enters the yard.
She loves playing Frisbee and never misses, but unfortunately, her age (we think she is about 10 1/2 years old) and her severe hip dysplasia limit her activities. These days, she prefers to curl up on the sofa with Tanner or find a nice shady spot in the back yard to relax in!
If you love your mutt (and I'm sure you do), celebrate (more so than usual) today! Show them how much you love them. Take them on a special adventure, bake them some doggie cookies. Show them just how important they are in our lives, and then Post a picture of your mutt in the comment section, I'd love to see them.
