Do you know the saying? "Only Mad Dogs and Englishmen Go Out In The Noon Day Sun." Well we are getting noon day sun ALL day. It's hot. In an effort to escape the Orange County heat (yes, you heard that right), we headed to the cabin.....not necessarily a good escape as the cabin is also hot and not air conditioned (hmmmm). But we're here.
The advantage of our Lake Arrowhead Cabin is that we are situated high on a hill and we get a nice breeze. As I'm writing this on our deck, I can see thunderstorms over the desert...can't tell if they are coming my way or not.
We also have a dock, and a boat and more importantly....Lake Arrowhead. Even I went swimming today. And it felt soooo good. Even at 10am. (I did my daily hike at 6:30 this morning).
After some sun and water, we came back to sandwiches and a snooze on the deck. Nice! Fortunately we are at the tail end of August so the path of the sun has altered and the deck has a nice amount of shade all day. In this heat, that's a great place to be. Tonight....we're dragging mattresses out to sleep under the stars. Ah....nothing better than that.
But even in this heat, the forest, the lake, the village are all alive with activity. So while the old saying about Mad Dogs and Englishmen is probably true. In Lake Arrowhead...."Only Mad Dogs, Englishmen, Boaters, Wake Boarders, Fishermen, Shoppers, Squirrels and Blue Jays Go Out In the Mid Day Sun"
