Which would you prefer? A feature or a reblog? The Answer is clear!

Enough with the posts about features arleady!  I care wayyyyyyy more about reblogs than features.

hardwood floor refinishing westchester NYYes, of course it's an honor to be featured and it's an opportunity to get more subscribers.  But, honestly, often, while it's fun, it's more of distraction...so much time to answer all those comments.  (Now, occasionally, I'm thrilled w/ all the comments...when I'm seeking advice.  In fact, I've had 2 features where the comments were OUTSTANDING - wonderful learning for me an other AR members...see links below).

So, besides the fact that features don't really build my biz (rather keyword posts do and relationships here on AR do for sure), these actually distract me from my actual business at hand.  And, they always seem to come when I least expect them and when I'm super busy.

..................so, what matters more?..............REBLOGS.  Reblogs really help build my business.  They give me more links to my important posts and to my website which in turn give me better google rankings.  Further, when someone reblogs you, that is the most sincere form of acknowledgment...they like your post enough to feature it on their own blog.  I'm mean, seriously, that is huge.  And, it's even better if someone with a high PR blog reblogs you.  And, when they endorse you, wow, now that feels good!  So, it's a double win and worth way more than a feature.

Tip:  When you reblog someone, consider adding a link back to their profile page or website and highlight key words for them and make that link key word ridh.  For example for me, that might look like Westchester hardwood flooring.  If you do this, you help the author in their ranking.  And, if we all do this, we all help each other.

If you want to spread the word on this, please reblog this (rather than suggest it).

Also, as promised, here are 2 featured posts that had OUTSTANDING COMMENTS.  The post was okay, the comments generated brought new learning for many members.

A bit confused about AR/wordpress/blogger and hosting

Should she refinish her floors to sell her home?  Need your opinions and advice.

These were both valuable learning posts for me and I was so glad i was featured...because I learned A TON!  And, thank you for your input.  You guys rock.

Hi Debbie, thank you and I now understand the importance of the reblog and will start doing that for people and adding a link-also plan to look at some tutorials and hope to catch up with you soon!

Debbie, The one pro of a reblog is it typically puts you in a different circle than our normal subscribers.  Based on many comments we've seen, there are quite a few folks that NEVER look at the Feature roll.

Good morning Debbie. You make an excellent point here and I agree with you. I have only done this twice, once for a death in the AR family and once for a colleague who needed help with two abandoned dogs found and needing homes. However, increasing the circle of people who read about service is good.

Good morning, Debbie...as all the previous commenters have stated, great point about re-blogging. You're always teaching the rest of us something useful! As Rodney mentioned, it's especially good when your post is about something local, and another local person re-blogs.

I agree.  Features are always nice but I've had plenty of non-featured articles get reblogged.  It's definitely the sincerest form of flattery!

Karen - Thx, yes, it's definitely a double win.

Carol - That is an excellent point.  When I first started, this is how my name started to get around.  (Now, of course when you are fetatured there is also more potential for reblogs, too).

James - I know.  It can take forever to respond.

Rodney - that is very true.  That is one benefit I have...I'm not competition for any here, including those that are local.

Kathy - Yes, that is true, but I would always prioritize reblog over feature, if I had to choose.

Dorie - Yes, that is so true.  And, I suppose links within a post referencing another are also helpful.

Joanna - Excellent.  We'll get together real soon.  crazy week now, but it's about to slow down.

Bliz - Yes, that is very true.  Some people don't even know it exists, but more often there are those that either a) don't like to go there/are sick of it and/or b) primarily pay attention to their subscriber list.

Robert - Thank you so much.  Just trying to share as much as I can.

Sheila - Yes, I think it's good thing, when done selectively.  If that's all you do, not so good, but if you have a balance, I think it's great.

Nina - Thank you and yes, that is really useful for local posts abt local events.

When i saw your title my definite answer is FEATURE, because i haven't got one, but true a RE-BLOG will benefit you more, google juice will find you in some way and your blog has a lot of links from the re-blogs, more re-blogs means your article is worth sharing and have an important information that google will value. Great article Debbie!

Debbie, I never gave this subject a thought... I think I have had 2 feature blogs, and many more re-blogs... but you are right, a reblog does more for raising your Google worthiness, which is more important to me as well.

I have got to get better at re-blogging Debbie. You are great at the shout outs on Twitter too and I don't even know how to do that yet!

Rob - tHx so much and glad I could help shape your thinking.  Google juice always wins.

Chris - Glad you and I see eye to eye.  And, thank you for all the reblogs, too!

Shar - You're so funny.  I need to RT more often.  I've been so busy that I'm barely on there.  Just do #FF for follow Friday and then write the twitter names of people you think are good.  And/or RT the ones that mention you.

HA! Debbie you are great... the same day I do a blog about being featured.... did you do this as a counterpoint? HEE HEE... I see your point and really however you get the juice is the best thing for you! You obviously get tons of Google love from all the posts you do so a reblog would indeed be in your favor I just don't know how concrete the back links are on a reblog. The feature posts get more exposure which means more people using you as an associate hence a lead. Whatever works is the best answer though so I'm all forward your method! :) GO FOR IT!!! :-D

Hi Tammy.  No, I didn't see your post. I'll have to go check it out.  For me, reblog is way more important, esp since I won't really be getting referrals from people outside my local area.  Yes, you're right that feature has some benefits, too.  I completely agree.

Debbie....I love reblogs - both ends of it.  I recently reblogged one of Nina's local posts & the re-blog came up in my Google alerts (as had the original post).

I write for the fun of it.  That is probably obvious to all.  Features and reblogs are fun and all, but I don't care really.  The points don't matter to me.  The approval is a good psychic stroke too, but I get the fun writing.
