This article at the Scottsdale Property Shop had me chuckling, but the more I think about it... why not?
The disgruntled real estate agent is setting up a website where agents can go to rate their clients - and he has the rating system all worked out.
One rating category I think he missed is the "Vacationing Buyer."
These are the customers who come back every year during tourist season. This year for sure they're going to find the vacation property they really want... of course.
But every year they go home without making an offer. Meanwhile, their "favorite" agent has spent a week or so driving them around - even via boat if they want waterfront property - buying them lunch, and missing the opportunity to work with serious buyers and sellers.
I've known a few of these, but lucky for me I was not their "favorite."
One broker I knew, after spending time over 3 summers with the same couple, asked them if they had any other hobbies. Startled, they asked what he meant. He said "I mean, other than looking at property. Do you have any other hobbies?" Sheephishly, they admitted that no, they didn't. This was it.
It really sounded as if they had a favorite agent in a number of towns, and they made the rounds each year.
If Barry Wong succeeds in creating his website, I think he should include "Vacationers" as a sub-category of his 2 star rating: "People who never buy or sell anything."
