If you want business, you can’t hide from the public

I hear it from agents and mortgage brokers everyday “I want more business, do you have any ideas?” Well, I have some ideas, the same ideas I’ve been giving you for the past 4 years and you wouldn’t listen then and I’m hoping you will listen now.

If you want more business, you can't hide

Referrals can be a huge part of your business, but if that isn’t getting you enough business right now, then you need to generate new leads. But, sitting in the office waiting for the phone to ring isn’t going to get you those leads unless you are doing something to make that phone ring.

This is why you need to get out there and stop hiding from the public! OK, I’m about to share my secret with you… You ready? I blog, I post on Craigslist and last but not least and as far as I’m concerned is, I give back to the community by volunteering for local causes.

I feel the best way to generate business is to get out there and help others. You don’t have to talk business, just volunteering itself seems to generate business. If you don’t believe me, go out and try it. Now, please make sure you are doing it because you want to give and not just to get business or I promise you will be very disappointed.

Todd, not only will volunteering add to Inez's network of influence, but it also simply helps one feel good Bout themselves. And there's nothing wrong with a booster shot of self-esteem!

Todd,  It is amazing how many calls I get from lenders wondering if I have any clients for them.  Wouldn't it be nice if the lenders would call us and say "Hey I have a client for YOU".  I agree with giving back to the community.  It is good for your soul and your business.

Spoken with the wisdom of an old man in a beard. Hey, wait!! Who is that in your profile pic?( (I like it)

Funny you bring this up Todd, one of the things I miss most about Radio is the involvment I had in the community - so for my 2012 plan, I added volunteerism as a big part of the picture. Being out there generates momentum.  :)

So true! You have to be out there as part of the community to be seen as a community resource.

Todd, i like the picture and too many are hiding at their desks moaning Instead of taking initiative to try something different...that is the game changer!

Todd -- why is it that the act of doing something on a consistent basis and constantly improving on the way you are doing it seems like such a foreign concept.   Just do it!   Sound familiar?

I am currently in search of a new "cause" because I went as far as I could with the last one.  Being part of my community and helping is what I do.  If I happen to get business as a result... bonus, but it's NOT why I do it for sure.

PS- love the Santa

Good advice. I've been volunteering for a little while now. Should have started much sooner still.
