Lancaster Homes and Real Estate for SaleHow do you say, "Lancaster Homes and Real Estate for Sale?" Local folks have their customs, which may be indigenous or strange or simply down right weird or funny. But us Lancaster locals can spot or hear a stranger quite easily. How might you say? Well it has to do with the pronunciation used by less knowledgeable persons. Ignorant of our ways. How do you say, "Lancaster Homes and Real Estate for Sale?"

Others say, "Lan cast er." Lan as in land or lanyard, cast for a group of drama persons with a grand finally of urrrrrr. Lan' cast er. But a local Pennsylvanian will pronounce Lancaster as lang CUSS ter. Lang as in Langley Air Force base, cuss as in what say that you may later regret with an ending ter. Lang CUSS' ter. So a local will say, "Lang CUSS ter Homes and Real Estate for Sale."

Another one which create great local jokes is the town is which I reside. LIT its for Lititz. It is not La TITS. If you call me, I will tell you my tongue in cheek joke, but not on the public air waves. Now I have had my fun, but when you read my posts regarding Lancaster Homes and Real Estate for Sale, you will be able to pronounce it correctly in your mind.

Funny Cal, How a town or city is pronouced often reveals if one is a local or new to an area.  But then there are many ways to say some names.

Many people in my parents' generation would leave out the "a" in Philadelphia....Phildelphia.

Cal,

I grew up in Florida and went to postgraduate school in Georgia.  The Southerners would even add more emphasis to Lancaster than you might imagine... g

Gloria, that is an interesting pronunciation for Philadelphia, maybe that is where Philly came from. But local things are always interesting.

Steve, thanks and I also enjoy local customs, learning about them and often honoring them. Good speed to you as well.

Steve, thanks for your extremely gracious words.

Gordon, that brought a smile to my face. Be well my friend.
