Planning for 2012 must include the options for paid online presence. On ActiveRain, I have gotten 2¢ value for every 1¢ that I spent. Or maybe 3¢ value or even 4¢ value ... Paying for ActiveRain has produced ROI. Suffice it to say - every penny spent at ActiveRain has been a very great investment both socially and for real estate.
I paid for REALTOR.com which has been a TOTAL BUST and well, we can leave it at that. I am not one for belaboring REALLY BAD CHOICES such as paying for REALTOR.com.
I paid for Zillow and have received contacts from there. Only have "contributed" a little bit there. Contributions are photos, answers or blogs. I do like having the reviews on Zillow available for Clients - it's very helpful. I really enjoy Brad Andersohn's classes and the speakers he brings to us there.
I do pay at RealBird and enjoy their classes.
On Trulia, I do not pay at this time. However, I do answer questions. The questions I have answered resulted in contacts from Trulia. Answering has been an interesting and enjoyable process.
I don't pay at ePropertySites but I joined there to be able to follow Steven Graham and take classes from him there.
ASIDE: On the "property sites", many callers think since my picture is there, I OWN the properties. Others think that I am the listing agent for the properties. I do explain that I have paid to be there. Either way - lots of lookers but not much ROI.
So - analysis of ROI for online presence is just up ahead at the world-wide headquarters of ODAT Realty Services, Inc. That analysis will help guide what online presence we pay for next year.
Have a happy day -
Lynn
PS Just for fun - I participate in QUORA (which I love) and Empire Avenue (which is great fun). L.
