Russel Ray Photos January Contest- I Couldn't Stand Still!

Green Cay

No I have not lost my head.  There's some shaking going on here!! But.... it wasn't me.  I've been trying to get a shot of these Painted Buntings for months and finally there they were at the feeder at Green Cay.  I even had my "big boy" camera ( Panasonic DMC-FZ18 Lumix) camera with me.  I steadied myself and I thought "Gee I haven't had THAT much caffeine yet".

I must have taken 10 shots trying to stop moving until .... DUH... it wasn't me it was the wind gently moving the feeder.

In the Russel Ray Contest you can win a copy of the Corel Paintshop ProX4.  Join the How I Did It Group, enter your photo there.  Jim Frimmer and Eric Cooper will also judge.

Enter your best worst photo.  You can enter 4 times; once a week so hurry because the first deadline is this Sunday.

For you AR Points hogs... no points other than your usual blogging points are involved but it should be fun.

Heh, you need to get a tripod that sways with the wind and set it to match the the moment of the feeder. I think it is the S-stop on the camera setting!  ;-0

Ok Kathy,  I think this one may be in the top 10 so far.  I know what it like when taking pictures and they do not come out.

Kathy I had to laugh at Will's take.  All in good fun of course :)  I wasn't aware of the contest I'll jump over and check it out.  Thanks for sharing your shaky photo with us.  Have a great Friday and best regards from the Q

Kathy--Love your entry in Russel's contest.  I have a few of those, too.   I like the other comments above.

Thanks for the reblog Kathy!  This sounds like fun and for sure I've got many best worst photos that have gone nowhere. Now they have a place to go to get fixed.

Kathy, I usually delete my bad photos. I'll have to go find something!

Hi Kathy, I still like your photo.  Even though shaky and the main subject is out of focus, it conveys the movement of the birds and I really like the bright red and yellow that pop out of the picture!

Than- what's funny is that we saw what looked like an abandoned tri-pod at the beach today.  It was just there on the sidewalk with no one around.  Left it there, though.

Will- I know all too well what it's like.  I have a lot of pics that were "accidentally" taken of elbows and my feet.

John (the Q)- Happy New Year.  Hope you'll enter.  It'll be fun looking at the pics.

Mary- thank you.  My problem was I had too many of them.

Anna- Hope you'll enter.  I have no idea how to use any of the software but I'd love to try this one out.

David-  no way would you have any bad photos.

Connie- I'll delete the ones that are so bad you can't tell what they are.

Just stopping by to acknowledge your entry into the contest. Good entry. The other problem with that picture is that it appears focused on the background rather than the cage and birds. Try setting your autofocus points for something like that to just one rather than using all of them.
