Cincinnati Airport Now Has FREE WiFi Service!
We recently posted about the three main commercial airports serving Warren County residents: Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus. It's fantastic that we have so many choices for flights within about an hour's drive.
One of the longstanding complaints about the Cincinnati airport is the high airfares. Face it, Delta pretty much runs the show at CVG with minimal competition. They set the supply and adjust prices to the most that demand will support. That's all well and fine, it's free enterprise at work. As consumers we always have the choice of driving, or driving to the other area airports if the price savings outweighs the inconvenience.
But as a past frequent traveler, one of the things that irked me slightly about CVG when compared to other airports was the lack of free WiFi service in the airport. If you had a Delta Crown Room membership you were set, or belonged to T-mobile you were okay too. But otherwise? Open your wallet and shell out about $10 for each log in session. The net results of that is I added PDAnet software to my laptop so I could tether my Blackberry to my laptop and not be dependent on airports anywhere to provide service.
But yesterday CVG announced that FREE WiFI service is now (FINALLY!!!) available at CVG! They're offering two tiers of service, the 768 kb/sec level will be free. If you want the 5 MB/sec like we get in our home, well that level they're still going to charge you for....although they're offering the premium service for free through June. Taste the candy travelers!
And by the way, as part of the upgrades to CVG, they're boosting cell phone service to eliminate those black out spots down in the train tunnels. And the last service over at Terminal 2 will finally be consolidated into Terminal 3 once the renovations on Concourse A are complete later this year!
And as for the fares dropping at CVG....just keep shopping around for the best deals!
