Golf and real estate, can they co-exist?

My long days of selling Nashville real estate seems to be a never ending battle, and looking ahead to 2008, I don't see a lot of breaks in the action, so I did something over the Christmas 12102006 058 holidays that I had never done, or even considered. I went on vacation to another state, South Carolina to be exact. Why South Carolina? I'm a golfer, and most serious golfers know that coastal Carolina has some of the best golf courses in the country.

While driving though the low country along the ocean, A thought came to me that maybe I should have a license and sell property in South Carolina. Elizabeth and I both love the  Plantation style homes , the live oaks with moss hanging over the streets, and the fact that retirement communities are still mostly in Florida. I could take vacation and work at the same time. Would that really be vacation? Probably not, but It would be a change of pace, and the weather is usually much better during the winter months, when Nashville real estate sales are at it 's slowest time.

I'm sure that a lot of my friends in active rain have the ability to sell real estate in 2 states, so I'm hoping to get some feedback on this subject before my plans get too far along.

Have a great holiday

I am giving thought to do this very same thing;  we are fortunate in being able to spend a considerable amount of time in another state at our beach house in the off season.   Not only have we have started meeting a lot of local residents, we have referred quite a few folks who have bought beach houses from our local real estate agent.  I am now wondering if I should get licensed...it certainly would make it easier to eventually move there if we decided to do that.

Michael - I'm now curious about your golf game

Matt - We were in the Charleston area, but the mountains of Spartanburg have beautiful golf courses also.

Susan - It's sounds like you are farther along than I am. You already have some potential clients and an area that you know very well. Let me know how it goes.

Here is another thought, Larry...I am also thinking about getting my license in this other state so I can advertise listings from agents in that area (NC) to my market (northern Virginia)...building a referral business might be a good start.  ;-)

Larry- I think doing half ayr each place is a smashing idea! I might have to try it. Although my ultimate goal is 1/2 in NM and 1/2 in AZ...may take a bit until I can do that..anyway, I say go for it. Do some research and have an open mind!
