New Smyrna Beach is our neighbor to the South. But it is a remote neighbor. It is on the other side of Ponce Inlet, and this is where our part of the Intracoastal, called Halifax River, ends and Indian River begins.
New Smyrna Beach presents itself as a quiet relaxing place away from Daytona’s buzz, but within 20-minute drive. This a bit over 20K residents coastal town is filled with vacationers – 1 Mil visitors a year.
You will love those beachside tree-lined streets, have fun on Flagler Ave. Like Daytona, they have a lot of condos on the beach.
We drove to New Smyrna Beach on Sunday to look at some properties coming up for the auction in October. Driving along the ocean, I suggested that we stop at Chases on The Beach, a very popular oceanfront establishment with live music and a pool full of people.
We had a very nice lunch at Chases on The Beach in New Smyrna Beach, our smaller Daytona neighbor, proud that they are not Daytona.
Go figure
