5 Questions to Ask Every Time You Post!

What’s your biggest challenge when it comes to social media?

For many, it’s coming up with things to post on their Twitter or Facebook, or to post about on their blog.

We’ve all been there.  We want to make sure that we’re not just posting to post, but that what we’re actually saying matters to our audience!  It’s true that being consistent is key to social media success, but equally important is the quality of the content.

So, how can you as a real estate agent, broker, home stager, etc... ensure that you’re on target with content as well as consistency?

Here are five questions you’ll want to ask yourself each time you post:

1. What is the post telling my target customer?

2. Why does my target customer care about this post?

3. What sort of emotions does my post evoke?

4. How does my post connect to the emotional needs of my target customer?

5. How will that post incite action on behalf of my brand, product, and service?

These may seem like pretty basic questions, and ones that don’t need additional explanation, but they are key to keeping you on track with your content.  People will only take note of what you’re posting if it has value to them.  If you’re consistent with posting, but all you’re posting is “fluff”, your audience (made up of past, current and potential clients) will tune you out and may even stop subscribing to you.  Worse yet, they may switch to the next person in your field who’s providing better information.

Recently, social media company SMI found that 52% of consumers say they have stopped following a brand on Facebook because the information it posted had become “too repetitive and boring.”  Considering that Social media sites and blogs reach 80% of all U.S. internet users (Mindjumpers), what you post on your social media and blog sites is important!

Remembering that content is key will keep your posts fresh, engaging and lead generating!
