It's O.K. to blow your own horn once in a while!
I've been working very hard this year. My referral network is not producing adequately. So, on January 1, 2012, I said to myself, "Lenn, get off that computer and get out and sell some real estate".
Done and Done.
I have been working directly with home buyers more this year than in the past 13 years. In previous years, my focus was on referrals to my network of referral brokers/agents. Still is, but in the mean time, until the market recovers, I should live so long, I will sell real estate.
Now, I'm a crusty old broad. Real estate sales is, IMO, a business. That said, we agents and brokers don't have agency codes of conduct and license laws for nothing. We do help buyers and sellers complete some of the most significant financial transactions in their life times. Further, unless we can successfully interact with consumers, most licensees will not go far residential real estate brokers either as an agent or broker.
This wonderful business is not for the faint of hart. Nor is it for the misanthrope. Most of us are somewhere in between the overly aggressive and the shy. You have to have confidence in your ability to do your job, but not frighten folks with the hard sale. Nor can you be too shy to deal effectively with agents on the other side of a transaction.
The rewards are more than monetary as can be seen below.
