108 Comments on 10 Signs Your Blogging Is Working
Definitely something to shoot for. I think many new bloggers just have to be patient and keep blogging - it will come. :) Of course writing about quality topics helps and being interesting never hurts either.
Every time I talk with an agent who isn't using Active Rain I urge them to start - and to blog regularly. Few take the advice.
I think the big problem is that people want instant results, and it just doesn't work that way.
It reminds me of a co-worker who once laughed at me for writing prospecting letters, because he tried it and "they don't work." It turned out that he had sent one letter to one prospect...
Thanks BLiz, sounds like a great start for a Blogging Goals list, I am sure that you at the top with each of these with your excellent postings!
Andrew, Both of your statements are right on target. Being patient and providing quality product are crucial.
Marte, We may be in one of the worst businesses for wanting immediate response. And one letter to one prospect to determine letters don't work?? Wow!
Bob, We continue to learn and hopefully improve. Many of our initial posts probably don't do much work for us, but more of the recent ones are written with the intent of staying power.
Bliz - your response to this blog post is eveidence all yoiur hard work is paying off!!! Nice to see all your great results and serves as motivation to keep blogging. AR blogging found me a buyer lead as well as a lease listing in the past 2 weeks which is all good. Regards Dave
Dave, That's a pretty good two weeks when you get two clients out of it. Keep on blogging!
I'm delighted to be one of those who gave you a recent referral as a result of your AR activities. I hope you get a quick sale of the Thomas property. Their parents have a lot of friends in this area and they'll sing my praises for a great referral.
Mary, And we appreciate that! Just waiting on the Thomas family to be ready then we'll do our best to make you a hero back home :)
#11 You are known and loved by so many AR members. That did not happen overnight! Much continued success!
Margaret
Margaret, And not a bad #11 to have :) We've been daily participants for two years and just enjoy what we gain from this community. There's no place else quite like it.
I get calls all the time from people who think I am in charge of different local events. It may not mean immediate business buy my name and number is out there and that's a good thing.
Liz, We had a call Saturday morning from someone that read our Rubber Duck Regatta post. He's basically looking to support non-profits and has the means to do so and liked the fact that we were agents promoting the event. He's looking to engage us to help with his efforts, a win-win in our book.
All great points you make here. I am still schlogging away but know eventually all will pay off. Good job.
Nan, There is an end to the rainbow :)
Okay, okay... I'm back I'm back. Well, at least three blogs in the last two days. So that kinda makes me back kinda... :)
Chris, That's more like it :)
Liz and Bill,
Those 10 measurements are not the only ones. For instance, I have found that I have had increased calls on my key consulting practice in areas of leadership and strategic planning. Please that do not know Active Rain have said they have googled me and I have come up first in the area. Thanks, Active Rain.
Grant, Definitely not the only ones, just 10 that came to mind quickly for us. More often that not, the finder just knows "the Internet" and not that it was an Active Rain blog post. We'll take it however it comes :)
It sounds like you have to down to a science. Does this mean there are a lot of agents in surrounding areas of OH that are on Active Rain? Is this a normal amount of referral for you or has it increased?
Two listing referrals in the last two months from Active Rain members
Elisa, It's our first referrals that stuck. We've had a couple of attempts, but they were outside of our market area. In one case we helped them find someone in Cincinnati urban area, the other was so far from us that we didn't have a contact. There are not a lot of active Active Rainers in our immediate area. You'd think between Cincinnati and Dayton there would be, but not so much.
