FRAUD ALERT WAIT I DIDN'T BUY THAT AIRLINE TICKET!!!!
Ever get an email that was not the normal style of communication from that person? Perhaps a phrase such as "I really enjoyed this." or "Don't miss this opportunity." or ...
If a suspicious message has a link or an attachment, beware! One of my friends received an unusual email requesting her to open an attachment but the email seemed wrong. She reports:
"I received an e-mail purportedly from Delta Air Lines about a ticket I purchased when I did not purchase a ticket. I immediately called Delta and was told that it is a hoax. As the representative pointed out, Delta ticket numbers start with 0006 and this did not. Fortunately, I did not open the attachment."
NEVER OPEN AN ATTACHMENT OR A LINK unless you are sure you know that what you are about to open is genuine and safe.
My friend averted a potential disaster. Even if an email seems to come from a trusted source, if it seems odd that that person would have sent a link to you - DON'T CLICK ON IT!! If it seems out of the ordinary for that person to have sent an attachment - DON'T CLICK ON IT!! These links/attachments often carry computer viruses.These links/attachments may serve as a basis for a "zombie or "bot" attack on your computer. CLICKING WHEN UNSURE INVITES DANGER INTO YOUR COMPUTER.
