O’ gather ‘round the Old Towne square
And quaff a draught of festive air,
To sup the light-charged atmosphere,
With friends just met the season share!
(R Weisser 2012)
Let me say first that I am NOT a mall person. I can count more fingers on one hand then the times I have been to a shopping mall in the last five years.
Perhaps it is due to my age, or perhaps it is just the way I am wired, but I prefer the Christmas card setting of an old small town square.
We are fortunate in Newnan Georgia to have a vibrant and busy historic downtown shopping district. As a matter of fact, the entire district is on the National Register of Historic Places.
On any given night, there are plenty of shoppers, diners, and those that just choose to gather together in the central location to share the season with other like-minded revelers.
You don’t WALK from restaurants to shops and parks.
You STROLL!
Because with all of the holiday-charged atmosphere that abounds there is no urge to get in any big hurry!
You just drink it all in!
