Build The Walls for Habitat for Humanity - Christ's Church at Mason May 10-11 2013
If you were to take a pick at a charity that would be near and dear to a REALTOR'S (R) heart, wouldn't Habitat for Humanity be one that would come to your mind quickly? Now add Habitat to Humanity and our church, Christ's Church at Mason, and you've got a double shot of two things we love! Coming up May 10th & 11th Christ's Church at Mason will be hosting it's annual Build the Walls event!
You want to see something that will totally restore your faith in the human race? Watch 600+ people put together the walls for SIX Habitat for Humanity homes in under five hours on a Saturday morning! It's TRULY awe inspiring!! Now we get some help, there's a cut team that preps everything on Friday, and lots of skilled labor and a traveling team providing guidance on Saturday morning!
You can expect to see the entire range of age and experience, from young ones out there with mom and dad to seasoned carpenters and do it yourselfers who come equipped with their own hammers and a lot of know how!
Don't know which end of a hammer to use? NO PROBLEM!! There's plenty of support needed for all the would be carpenters that day! Breakfast is served, snacks and drinks are delivered and when you mix it all together an amazing feat will happen! The frames for those six houses will be finished and loaded on semi trailers for delivery! And this year, five of the six houses are staying in the Cincinnati area!
If you're familiar with the Habitat for Humanity concept, the recipients of the homes put a lot of sweat equity into completing their own homes. Our church has shown videos of the new homeowners after moving into their home, and when you compare their before and after situations it's a great feeling for all involved.
Current schedule and needs:
- 60 volunteers as Crew Leaders. 7:30 a.m. May 11th
- 25 volunteers for Cut Session 8 a.m. May 10
- 400+ volunteers for Build Session 7:30 -12 Saturday May 11
- 10-15 volunteers for Breakfast Team 6:00 May 11
- 15-20 volunteers for Refreshment Team, 7:30 a.m. May 11, serve coffee, water & snacks
