Hawaii Is My Return Trip To Paradise. It has been harder than I expected to decide the destination to write about for Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk ActiveRain contest "Contest The Virtual Traveller-From Fishhawk Lake Real Estate". Deciding the destination for my return to paradise has been difficult, because three locations really standout for me.
- The first is Tuscon, Arizona because my youngest brother lives there and I have never gone to visit him. Going to visit him is just one of the reasons for me to pick Tuscon, Arizona. The others are much more obvious, Arizona is gorgeous, and seeing the Grand Canyon is one of the things on my bucket list.
- The second is California, specifically the Bay Area. I was stationed on an Aircraft Carrier, The USS Ranger CVA-61, which was based out of Alameda when I was in the Navy between 1971-1974. I met and married my wife during that time, and also made several friends while I was there. I have only been back once (1980) and have not been back since. The Bay Area is also a gorgeous location, and San Francisco is one of the best cities in the World in my opinion to go on vacation.
But the destination I have decided on for my return to paradise is Hawaii. In 1973 I made my one and only trip to Hawaii while in the Navy. Back then I had but two things on my mind, girls and having lots to drink. Needless to say my one and only trip to Hawaii was not much different than any other port I pulled into in those days. I was in paradise, and did not take advantage of anything paradise had to offer. Gayle Rich-Boxman Fishhawk ActiveRain contest has given me a new reason to to dream about a return to paradise, but this time do what I failed to do the first time I was there.
Even though I did not take advantage of my first time in Hawaii, one thing was obvious, it is amazing. Even in my not so lucid state the first time I was there I could recognize that. Should I be able to return to Hawaii again, this time I would make sure I would take advantage of its beauty and many places to see. But equally high on my list would be to finally meet a couple ActiveRain members I met early on when I first joined ActiveRain, and one new member I have recently
met.
Sally Cheeseman, and Randy Prothero are two members I connected with shortly after I joined ActiveRain. Both of them wrote quality blogs, so it was easy to follow them here in the Rain. Also the pictures they would post of Hawaii brought back memories of the short time I was there. Both Sally and Randy are members I would love to 
meet and spend some time with. Sally even sent me a bag of coffee from Hawaii which I enjoyed in the morning for a few weeks. More recently Hella Mitschke Rothwell is a member whose blogs I have started to read, and is someone I would like to meet as well.
My wife was in Hawaii with her parents when she was in High School, so going back to Hawaii would be special for her as well. I don't know when I will make a return trip to Hawaii, but I will make one.
As difficult as it was to pick between Arizona, the Bay Area, and Hawaii, in the end Hawaii Is My Return Trip To Paradise. When I do I will be sure to take lots of pictures of everywhere I go, so others can also enjoy the beauty I will be experiencing.
